My hope is a top half finish in his first season. My dream is a great cup run or better still into Europe in any way. My reality is a struggle to hold on to the few players we ideally want to keep and mid to lower finish unfortunately. Gonna take anyone at least 2 seasons to restock the squad blood the youth properly and implement his style.

I think the club is starting to turn to a new direction. Kretinsky will probably end up as the majority shareholder eventually. The installation of Steidten and a slightly more progressive manager in Lopetegui are signals. I'd expect Kretinsky has looked at the Red Bull business model rather than the Newcastle or Man C models.

If Southampton get promoted and we can get our £30m back from JWP i'd bite their hand off. He's been very disappointing/average. Soucek as well should be off if we really want to improve. Add that to the list of other problem areas to strengthen and it really is a massive rebuilding job so the new man needs to be in and working asap. The usual West Ham transfer dithering simply can't happen this time.
