Who cares about Philips anyway... he's not our player and yes he was a disaster who split opinion before we actually saw him play... but when he did we all realised he was shit... he wasnt the player we saw strolling around the park for England while not playing for Man City. However I dont recall him letting England down but then England arent pinned back on their 18 yard line for 90 minutes so he was another bad pick that some predicted and some hoped would be a dream player alongside Alvarez... the rest is history. Soucek was shackled and had to sit in protecting the back four and breaking up play. That's what an enforcer does. And that was the point Soucek became less productive and started to lose his way. So whether or not he is that type of player is arguable but he has played that role for us.

Soucek has done a good job for us but he should be surplus to requirements under the new manager. His skill set will appeal to many teams and he is a saleable asset. We should be able to sell him for close to 20m.
