Keep VAR by 19 to 1 votes. WTF!

Post wils »

"How can that be? What's in it for the clubs? ""Premier League clubs have voted by 19-1 in favour of keeping video assistant referees (VAR) next season. Wolves triggered a vote on the use of VAR in the 2024-25 season after formally submitting a resolution to the Premier League in May. In order for VAR to be scrapped, 14 of the 20 Premier League clubs needed to vote in favour of doing so. However, BBC Sport understands Wolves failed to gain support at Thursday's annual general meeting."" https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ck55eg44n1do"

"The Premier League said, without VAR, there would be100 wrong decisions a season. That’s an average of 5 per team, roughly one every 8 games. I haven't seen a breakdown of the 100 wrong decisions. Presumably some will be incorrect red cards given/not given, so not every decision would be a ""goal"" decision. I'd rather accept the 1 in 8 games wrong decisions, to do away with goals being chalked off, after celebrating it, knowing that a goal is a goal. Would keep goal line technology."

VAR in itself is a useful tool and helps to eliminate glaring errors. It is the idiotic/ corrupt Premier League officials who ruin it regarding its overuse and their interference and subjectivity for marginal calls.

"... because overall there are more correct decisions made than before. It's that simple. The issue is they take so long to make the decisions that fans want 100% correct decisions and that will never happen as the system is operated by humans. I don't really care about the decision making - I just want it to be quicker. If it's not ""obvious"" within 60 seconds then there is no change to on field decision."
