Sport Witness ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs moving towards that‚Äù ‚Äì West Ham star will be called to give evidence in Brazil legal process By Lucas Sposito With the Brazilian media obviously giving big coverage to the FA‚Äôs charges against Lucas Paquet?°, it now seems the West Ham United star may even get a call to legally address it. That was revealed by Senator Jorge Kajuru, who‚Äôs the president of an ongoing Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry regarding gambling in sports. The politician was interviewed by O Globo, and said that the West Ham player will soon be summoned to explain his case. ‚ÄúYes, he will, it‚Äôs moving towards that.‚Äù There is, however, no date set for that to happen. ‚ÄúWe‚Äôll discuss it today,‚Äù he said. This Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry in the Brazilian Senate has been quite big, with club presidents taking part in most of the sessions. The big intention is to investigate the many allegations and suspicions of match-fixing in the local league. Lucas Paquet?°‚Äôs case is an issue for the FA, and it‚Äôs unlikely that the Brazilian justice has any access to the process for now. But since he‚Äôs representing the national team at the Copa Am?©rica, those responsible for the commission now believe the West Ham player must explain himself in his country as well. Caught Offside West Ham could beat Newcastle to signing of impressive defender Although there‚Äôs a couple of months to go until the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, clubs in England‚Äôs top division will almost certainly already be working overtime in order to be able to get certain transfer deals done quickly once the window opens. An expectation that we could be in for another busy summer, despite players, clubs and agents having to deal with the European Championship, Copa America and Olympic Games tournaments, is unlikely to be without foundation, given how many names have already been floated as to be looking for new employment. West Ham in for Newcastle target Lloyd Kelly One player that‚Äôs been consistently in the news is Bournemouth‚Äôs highly-rated centre-back Lloyd Kelly. That‚Äôs because the 25-year-old will be leaving the Cherries on a free transfer at the end of June, and the England international is sure to be in demand. Indeed, Chronicle Live note that Newcastle remain in advanced talks with the player, and after losing out on Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea, Eddie Howe and the Saudi Public Investment Fund will surely want to land Kelly. However, the outlet also note that West Ham are one of a handful of other clubs that have registered late interest in the player, and given that the East Londoners are on the cusp of a new era under Julen Lopetegui, that might well pique Kelly‚Äôs interest. The Spaniard is known to play a more continental style of football, and being at the beginning of a new project and helping bring it to life has obvious cachet. Perhaps even something as small a detail as whether Kelly would prefer to live in London over the North East of England is something that may sway the deal one way or the other. There‚Äôs sure to be more twists and turns but Howe will be hopeful that he‚Äôs sitting beside the defender when he puts pen to paper. Sport Witness West Ham offer for defender backed up by second source ‚Äì Need to increase bid by ‚Ǩ2m By Lucas Sposito West Ham United‚Äôs attempt to sign Internacional defender Vit?£o is now backed up by the wider Brazilian media. On Tuesday, it was Inter-dedicated outlet Revista Colorada who reported that the Hammers placed an ‚Ǩ8m bid for the centre-back. Now it‚Äôs time for Goal Brasil to confirm that information, also saying that West Ham ‚Äòsignalled‚Äô they can pay that much for the player. Internacional, however, are said to be demanding at least ‚Ǩ10m for the sale, so there‚Äôs no agreement yet. The good news is that the Brazilian club are ‚Äòaware‚Äô that Vit?£o should leave them this summer, and his agents are working to present some offers. West Ham reportedly see the defender as an alternative to Fabricio Bruno, with whom they couldn‚Äôt reach a personal agreement. According to Goal, the Flamengo defender is still in the Hammers‚Äô ‚Äòradar‚Äô, but they‚Äôre now looking at other options. The story claims that Fabricio Bruno‚Äôs staff even made a counter-offer to West Ham‚Äôs salary bid, yet the London side prefered to walk away and start looking for other centre-backs. That‚Äôs when Vit?£o showed up. Inside Futbol West Ham Trying To Hijack Nottingham Forest‚Äôs Swoop For Brazilian West Ham United are looking to hijack Nottingham Forest‚Äôs swoop for Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel and the decision is likely to come down to the player. Shot-stopper Miguel is available to move on from Corinthians this summer with a release clause in his deal set at ‚Ǩ4m. Nottingham Forest have been working on signing the goalkeeper and do have a verbal agreement in place with him. They are now facing a fight to bring him to the City Ground though as, according to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, West Ham have entered the hunt. Like Nottingham Forest, West Ham have agreed to pay the ‚Ǩ4m needed by Corinthians. The choice of which Premier League club to sign for now lies in the hands of the 25-year-old. Nottingham Forest and West Ham will make their pitches to try to convince Miguel to sign on the dotted line. The goalkeeper has made four appearances in Brazil‚Äôs Serie A this term, keeping two clean sheets."
