Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation

Post Phall Throw »

"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

"France, Italy Final if they don't meet on the way, Germans dark horses as they're at home and German. England Q/F or S/F will lose to first quality oppo as usual."

"Backing Portugal, amaizng squad filled with depth and got a easy group and on the good side of the draw Massive seller of Germany, look bang average and the squad is poor....lacks firepower Holland my dark horses, if they can win the group then they'll go far. Got arguably the best defence at the tournament"

"There will be VAR, but generally at international tournaments it's been infinitely better than in the PL. Germany are Germany, transition period or not. And they'll be even more Germany at home. Love them though. All you lot need to know is that I'll be there ;)"

"Can’t see past France. They have international class players falling out of their arse all over the pitch and the most talent combined with a winning mentality. They could probably field two sides in the tournament tbh. England have the talent to beat anyone else and arguably France as well on our day, but we just don’t have that mentality or the nous and we aren’t set up to take it to the opposition and impose our will despite an embarrassment of riches in midfield and up front. Short in central defence as well. Shaw and Walker are good enough but we look frail in the middle especially if stones isn’t 100%. The only thing really stopping us is ourselves. A German national team with this much talent would win the tournament. I see QF or SF for England depending on how the draw shakes out, but we will probably melt when we have a real tough game."
