Re: RiP Donald
"Manuel 9:39 Sat Jun 22 My fav role of his was as Sarge Oddball (woof) in Kelly's Heroes... one of the greatest comedy performances for me... Oddball : [looking at aerial pics of the a remaining bridge] Beautiful. Moriarty : suppose the bridge ain't there? Oddball : [groans] Don't hit me with them negative waves so early in the morning. Think the bridge will be there and it will be there. It's a mother, beautiful bridge, and it's gonna be there. Ok? Oddball : [Later: Oddball is looking through binoculars at the bridge] Still up! Oddball : [planes fly and bomb the bridge] ... No it ain't. See what sending out them negative waves did, Moriarty? Moriarty : That ain't my fault, Oddball, I've done nothing but have good thoughts about that damn bridge ever since we left!"

Re: RiP Donald
In that Wogan interview he says you struggled because directors thought you were too tall & gangly to play the hero & then Fellini cast you as Casanova. How did that happen ? Donald Sutherland: ‚ÄòHe was obviously a man of great insight‚Äô ?ü§£

Re: RiP Donald
Had a unique style & look There is a Wogan clip from BBC archive on Facebook where he tells the story of doing a great audition for a part & the producers & director tell him that he was brilliant But they see the character as more of the bloke next door sort …. and they don’t think he looks like he has ever lived next door to ANYONE

Re: RiP Donald
Good guy. Bad guy. Or somewhere in between. He was always worth a watch. So many great roles to pick.? That JFK might shade it. But I always think of Sergeant Oddball from Kelly Hero’s and grin. RIP Donald.
