Re: Glastonbury 2024
"MIM Never did Glastonbury in 90s but did free festival scene in late 80s so can't comment on Glastonbury then. Go to other festivals now such as Bearded Theory, Beautiful days, Womad and Truck Festival. Glastonbury is excellent value for money for 5 full days of entertainment. I think it's ruined by Idea that all happens on main stages with big names. Every day invites an adventure and you never know how it'll end up!"

Re: Glastonbury 2024
"mashed in maryland 10:06 Fri Jul 5 I've been going since the late 80's (88 or 89 I think) and haven't missed one - I work on site before the festival starts. Before the big fence went up it was a bit like the wild west, muggings, tent theft etc. This year I saw more people with phones out, but I put that down to people using the app to search the line-up and navigate the site. This year was one of the best in quite a while."

"StratfordStan Were you there in the 90s? Read lots of stories online about it being lawless and dangerous back then, huge fights, robberies etc but absolutely amazing if you avoided all that plus all the crusties doing weird religous shit. All this exaggerated or true? Never been to a ""proper"" festival but Glastonbury is the only one I ever fancied, but £300 a ticket and know its a cliche but every video from socials seems to be everyone stood still with their phones out."

Re: Glastonbury 2024
"Had a stall at Glastonbury for several years. The van checks were for people and not non-approved suppliers. There as a punter this year and excellent weekend. Kept away from Pyramid and lots of great stuff to find. Never understand the haters. As been said, lots of West Ham shirts and a West ham compere in comedy tent doing 'stand up if you hate Tottenham'. Good lass"

"SurfaceAgentX2Zero 8:35 Tue Jul 2 Indeed Taylor was but I am of course referring to the current FFs line up. In fact Josh Freese is probably now the best known member other than DG, having spent time behind the kit with G 'n' R, Devo and A Perfect Circle amongst others."

"Bungo 7:46 Tue Jul 2 Taylor Hawkins was pretty well-known, mate. Now they are just a bunch of sidemen. Incidentally, as Rick Beato points out in one of the videos I recommended below, nobody knows who the fuck anyone is any more because nobody reads album covers or CD leaflets."

Re: Glastonbury 2024
Just watched a bit of Coldplay. Fuck me just a little self indulgent but a spectacle for a festival show. Not exactly down and dirty but I don't suppose Glastonbury has been that for at least 15-20 years. Also the bass player for that band is the luckiest bloke since Guigsy and Bonehead (of course excluding Bonehead's bout of cancer he's over) from Oasis. A fucking monkey could replace him and no-one would notice.

"Saw a few seconds of this on the news. If hell existed this would be my idea of eternal torture. Stuck in a crowd of baying morons jumping up and down and screaming, being entertained by talentless fuckers shouting into mikes, backed by screeching guitars and endless pounding drums."

"Rick Beato has a series of interesting videos on YouTube, explaining 'how rock died' It's very interesting. He cites, in no particular order, the abolition of laws preventing network radio in the US, autotune/technology/AI, the rise of the producer/manager and Napster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reesdiAbvk4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bZ0OSEViyo"

Re: Glastonbury 2024
Bungo 11:19 Wow- what a little racket they've got going on there. I would assume the pitch fees are astronomical but having to buy everything from a 'festival approved' supplier? Pfffft..... Still I guess if everyone's making money off of drunk estate agents and trainee solicitors then everyone's a winner! Sydney- agree. I looked at the line up and it's atrocious. A real mish mash of mindless radio friendly pap.

Re: Glastonbury 2024
"Looked fucking horrendous to me! Hordes of champagne socialists and bush pigs, apparently tickets were a small fortune and the music on offer fucking shit."
Re: Glastonbury 2024
"El Scorchio 2:05 Tue Jul 2 Yup. As you'd expect the mark up is large but the festival organisers are wise to this and charge a LOT for a spot at Glastonbury. Apparently they only moved into profit sometime on Saturday afternoon. Also, you are apparently obliged to buy your ingredients and cooking oil from an 'approved' Glastonbury supplier. No doubt they are skimming some of this money off as well! In fact they have people (like customs) checking the vans when they arrive to make sure the vendors aren't bringing in supplies sourced from elsewhere! Blimey..."

Re: Glastonbury 2024
Nice. Yeah I bet churros are well popular there. Posh doughnuts basically! More appealing to the poshos. The mark up must be astronomical as well. It's only batter. Of course it would be vegan chocolate at Glastonbury hahahahaha Good luck to him for cleaning up!
Re: Glastonbury 2024
Billybonds Saw quite a few pali flags but actually thought there would be a lot more. The people i saw hold them were mostly overweight women or queers (ironic). Saw one Israel flag and one nova music festival / we will dance again flag. Not too surprised that nothing was done by Glasto to mark the murder of hundreds of festival goers 8 months ago.
Re: Glastonbury 2024
"El Scorchio 3:07 Mon Jul 1 Churros is their main thing, and I understand they have also branched out into paella as well now (I don't know if they were doing this at Glastonbury too). I believe a portion of churros (with vegan chocolate sauce natch), is something like £8! It's all about having a captive market I suppose..."
