Harvey Weinstein.
Clearly the guy is a sexual predator but my question is why are all of these women only coming out now? If Jolie and Paltrow had reported him 25 years ago then surely this would have stopped him? Surely by saying nothing they are assisting an offender?

Re: Harvey Weinstein.
"The difference with say Weinstein and someone like Savile and Clifford, is I imagine their victims were all pretty anonymous to each and certainly more vulnerable, whereas you'd guess the women of Hollywood were a select, pretty close knit group, certainly the ones higher up the food chain. And they never talked about, or discussed outing this wrong'un? I should imagine there are some oscars winging their way back to the academy in protest as we speak."

Re: Harvey Weinstein.
"Basically, if you were young, impressionable, had studied your whole life to get into something, it was your life long dream, then you got cornered one day and told that unless you plate out Ann Widdicombe's uglier sister you're out on your arse and will never have a chance again and go back to flipping burgers, what would you do? That there may or may not be other people who partake in this system proactively in order to advance their career doesn't really impact on the morality of it, imo, or make anyone who's coerced a ""slag""."

"Surf and Brent. I see what you're both saying here, but Fivetide is absolutely bang-on. If someone very high up makes it quite clear to someone else lower down that unless they do a few ""favours"" then they'll never work again, then that doesn't mean the ones who give in are ""prostituting themselves"" or somehow complicit. The fact that this sort of thing undoubtedly happens all the time doesn't make it any less wrong. Obviously it's innocent til proven guilty and these things always get clouded but if these allegations are true then he's not much better than a rapist."

Re: Harvey Weinstein.
"What's the difference between a woman that fucks a bloke for a part in a movie or a woman that fucks a bloke for a fur coat? The reason these women haven't come forward before is because they knew fucking him was wrong and they were ashamed to say anything. Probably their parents are all dead now, so they can safely play the multi-millionaire celebrity victim card without shaming their Mums."
Re: Harvey Weinstein.
I know it's normal to give most posters on here the time of day. but some have just proven themselves to be too unpleasant too many times to bother with. Topics like this do tend to get the wrong 'uns out of the woodwork though!

Re: Harvey Weinstein.
"So we should feel sorrier for the ones who prostituted themselves for the break or the ones who didn't and are consequently not famous? Or did the good ones make it anyway? I'm not sure what the rules are here or how the concept of personal responsibility got chucked out the window. Is everyone now officially an infant? And yes, Weinstein is a cսnt."

"It only takes a couple of dogs to round up a load of sheep. I saw that on twatter yesterday, and thought it was very apt."

"Fivetide 4:46 Fri Oct 13 'The guy, like many others like him in Hollywood, had the power to make or break people's lives.' Not getting a small part in a movie does not make or break a life."

"What has this bloke actually done? Asked a few budding actresses for a naked massage? Some said yes, some said no?"

"***Surely by saying nothing they are assisting an offender? *** Excellent bit of victim blaming there. And people wonder why the reporting incidence for sexual offences is so low... It took the NYT several years of trust building before it could break the story, after the NYPD had already fucked up its investigation."

"Well ray, if your opinion is that showing a bit of skin on telly is a green light for being sexually harassed/assaulted (if proven of course), then that would quite likely make you a cսnt."
