"Bitcoin went past $23,000 today. I've made just over £400 today trading it from the comfort of my sofa. other cryptocurrencies have been flying as well. short term fad or long term alternative currency??"

Re: Bitcoin
"For anyone buying Bitcoin right now, be careful because there are a load of shorts at 60K. If it breaks through that, next resistance is at 61.5K to 62K. Beyond that it can go quickly to 70K."

Re: Bitcoin
"You might want volatility if you are a swing trader who holds positions for a few weeks. If you are short term, hold for a day or two, you look for value. With Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin - once it passes a threshold and Bitcoin breaks above 63K (note carefully those words) - there is such little resistance to a 30%+ upside. Think about it. If you are a short, where are you going to place your bets? You can’t because those coins have gone parabolic previously to their all time highs. There is nowhere to place your shorts. It’s like a gigantic steep cliff face with no ridges to lay your traps. At the same time, there is no support on the way down so it’s imperative to take profits. Long-term both Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash may very well underperform Bitcoin. But value is in the here and now not the future."

Re: Bitcoin
"Vexed 6:25 Wed Mar 17 Re: Bitcoin Agreed. I was heavy into XRP, luckily I got out with a few quid profit. But it could have been rough. People need to remember trying your money up in some shitcoin what might/could/should explode is not a sensible if balanced way to approach investing. It’s gambling. And as we all know, the bookies (or in this case the whales) will always will. The deck is stacked. Look for a store of value, and right now there is only one that is anyway close to having some solid foundations. Just my opinion of course, and like arseholes, we all have one !"
Re: Bitcoin
"Im with Camel....I trade Litecoin but its very volatile so need to be nimble. Sold Bitcoin the day before Elon Musk bought a huge slug and it went up 17% the next day,Thankfully I still made a decent bit of cash ....Thought Id leave a bit on the table for others!"
Re: Bitcoin
"I'm avoiding XRP. It's not a cryptocurrency, the firm behind it are shady as fuck and have been shown to have been manipulating the price and I haven't seen anything that says that they aren't going to get slapped by the SEC. It all looks pretty damning. It's not even dropped low enough to take a punt on for me. XLM is a better long term bet in my opinion, although both have underperformed for years."
Re: Bitcoin
"What's the opinion on XRP's potential should it win its case against the SEC? As fundamentals are concerned, it appears to have a solid use case and benefits. I've invested in a few coins previously, including Link, Vet, BitCoin, and XLM, but I've made a few quid now looking where to thrown in a few quid. I've seen Bitcoin Cash mentioned, so I'll have a look at and what it does."
Re: Bitcoin
Didn't even mention the utility of either of them (greater than that of Bitcoin but I'm sure you knew that....) but telling people to buy into something that's on a downward trajectory is shit advice. FACTAMUNDO

"Vexed - Not bothered about the utility of Bitcoin Cash/Litecoin or long-term performance. For me, trade what offers value with the right set up intraday and take profits."

"WHUDeano 10:13 Sun Mar 14 Use coinbase if you're only buying. Its absolutely idiot-proof. Upload GBP by bank transfer then buy, store and withdraw what you want with minimal charges. Crypto.com is similarly easy but there are more charges. More coins though. Binance is for traders."
Re: Bitcoin
BCH is in a lengthy death spiral. It was designed to take over Bitcoin but is now worth less than 1% of bitcoin. That's a sure sign it's doing fuck all. There are endless coins/tokens that have and will continue outperform BCH this year. It's a shitter. You sound like a total numpty.

Re: Bitcoin
"Vexed If you want to ‘invest’ long term, then it is valid not to put money into Bitcoin Cash because one may not believe in the fundamentals. If you are looking to ‘trade’ on technicals, it does not matter, as long as there is value. The coins allied to Bitcoin - such as Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash - move in tandem with Bitcoin prices. Those coins have less volume than Bitcoin - which means they can break resistance to the upside and make large gains. They can also come down faster so it’s important to take profits along the way."

Re: Bitcoin
"Vexed I’ve made multiple profits on closing out 2:1 on RR on Bitcoin Cash when it meets resistance and Bitcoin has a breakout beyond its own resistance. Bitcoin current resistance is 62K to be safe, but my trading colleagues believe it is more like 61.7K. I’ve also backtested it 200 times and it has an 80% completion when the trade set up is there. This trade might not happen for a while anyway because Bitcoin has shown multiple divergences to the downside across a number of variables."

"Free tip, if Bitcoin breaks 62k, then go into Bitcoin cash which is closely tied. Has 30% upside in few days and offers value. Take profits just before it reaches previous all time high which will he resistance."

"There’s immense market manipulation (trust me) Keep your trades to 2% max of trading capital. If you invest, get out before the 200SMA crosses the 50SMA."
