Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The margins involved in some of the 'goals' ruled out for offside are ridiculous,we're often talking about a difference in shoe size. We'll never know how many chalked off 'goals' would have stood before VAR but the system has only succeeded in complicating the game. The fact that it often takes minutes rather than seconds for a decision to be reached suggests that the system has failed and needs binning. Let the game revert back to being reffed by humans and we'll all have to accept that mistakes will be made."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
I rarely watch rugby but they seem to get their VAR right. I think the referee calls for assistance on difficult decisions when he needs clarity. Then it’s a public broadcast replay and conversation to get the right decision. Two other points. Rugby players are not allowed to back chat refs. And players rolling around feigning injury would be ridiculed by teammates and fans
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"I also think refs should be made to come out and explain decisions or w have access to the dialogue between St Georges Park and the on pitch ref. A league table of refs, with the bottom 3/4 relegated to the championship would also surely improve officiating levels?"
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"It needs to go now, it has made the game worse not better so it has to go. Arguably worse decisions are being made with it, and causing far more controversy all whilst disrupting the game and taking away the fan experience in grounds. If fans can get the super league scraped they can get VAR thrown out. Fans of all clubs need to come together and ensure it gets launched into the bin"

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"I was 100% against the introduction of VAR and remain 100% opposed to it. If after 4 years the gormless officials still can't make it work even on a basic level then their is no hope for it. But if as it seems there is no chance of it being binned, no matter how shit it is, then they must go back to basics and only use it to adjudicate on matters of clear and obvious errors. The trouble with the VAR inadequates is that they just love looking for the tiniest imagined infraction that nobody else in the stadium has noticed. They must be told to stop this now because they are runing the game. And when one of them makes such a massive error of judgement such as yesterdays 'equalising' goal it is quite clear they neither care about or understand the game and should be cast out and advised to work as a parking warden where their very limited talents might be better appreciated."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"What would help is retrospective bans for simulation, feigning injury and cheating by players. 5 games should cut some of it out. It only was chalked off because Mendy screamed like a little girl and rolled around like he was shot."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Remember when they admitted Everton should have got a penalty for handball against City and that lessons would be learnt and things would change...?

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"They have admitted it should have stood. However there will be no consequences from it. Nothing will change and football will continue to be corrupt. All they do is hide behind words with no action taken. Next week the VAR ref will get the calls right but give it 2/3 weeks it will all blow up again. We seem to have this now, 1 weekend in about 3/4 VAR takes all the headlines."

"If the PL decides the referee’s post-VAR decision was wrong, they surely have to accept the goal stands. Interesting"

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"The Premier League is to review the controversial VAR decisions at Chelsea and Newcastle yesterday with referees' body PGMOL as a matter of priority. The move comes after decisions that denied Newcastle United and West Ham goals against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, respectively. Both teams thought they had scored, with the goals confirmed by the on-pitch referee. In each instance, the goals were disallowed after VAR. Both decisions have been heavily criticised, with many arguing that the role of VAR is not to get involved to reverse debatable calls that have already been made. Does Premier League have a problem using VAR? BBC Sport understands the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) will fully co-operate and collaborate with the Premier League's request to review the incidents, using the outcome as part of an ongoing assessment of weekly performances and the development of its match officials going forward."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
“ Not sure why the ref needed so many replays for what was a very obvious foul. Took longer than it did to overturn our goal.” That’s it for me. Even when they get it right it is misused to the detriment of the game. That was a clear foul that was obvious on the first replay. Should have been done and dusted with quickly

"Every match seems to be having interference from VAR. Its ridiculous. Killed the game, the emotion and flow of the game. Get rid of this shit. Get rid of offside and we dont need it."

VAR strikes again but this time IMO was correct but how it took so long is beyond me. 0-0

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
I think they blew up on Antonio far too early yesterday as well in the second half. Didn’t look like a clear offside to me yet it came straight back.
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Problem is they get it wrong no matter what they do. Take this tedious wait the linesman has to make for offsides. Yesterday the lino flagged, referee immediately whistled and a perfectly good goal was disallowed. The irony being that if they had waited the goal would have stood."
