Re: The Official Cowdenbeath 2023-24 Season Thread - Scottish Lowland Football League
"Cowdenbeath 0-1 St Mirren A heartbreaking late goal from St Mirren saw Cowdenbeath's Viaplay Cup campaign end in defeat despite another impressive performance. Having matched their Premiership opponents for 94 minutes, a long range effort by Lewis Jamieson was pushed away by Man of the Match Craig Hepburn but Olutoyosi Olusanya was first to react and net the winner. The Blue Brazil ended the game with ten men with substitute Kevin Smith receiving his second yellow in the 91st minute. Calum Elliot's side currently sit fourth in Viaplay Cup Group H with Arbroath at the foot of the table but The Red Lichties meet Montrose on Saturday in their final game. TEAM : Hepburn, Walker, Rodden, Jordan, Hill (Duncan), McNab, Butterworth (Jack), McDonald (Berry), MacPherson (Smith), Chalmers, Docherty (Tait) SUBS NOT USED : Murray, Blair NEXT UP : We travel to the Excelsior Stadium on Saturday 29th July to take on Celtic B in our opening Lowland League fixture."

"Played three highly competitive games now, against teams from a higher division. In normal time the COO have drawn against two of them, and only lost by the odd goal in the other. Take a bow."

Re: The Official Cowdenbeath 2023-24 Season Thread - Scottish Lowland Football League
"Cowdenbeath 1-1 Montrose (pen 4-5) For the second time in three days Cowdenbeath more than matched their higher league opposition but cruelly lost out on a bonus point on penalties. After a goalless first half, Montrose took the lead through Graham Webster on the hour mark but Cowdenbeath equalised in the 72nd minute through a penalty. Jamie Docherty was brought down inside the area and stepped up himself to send Cammy Gill the wrong way from the spot for his second goal this week. Substitute Matty McDonald had the ball in the net in the 74th minute but was flagged outside and Docherty came close to winning it ten minutes from time but his low effort was inches wide. As on Wednesday, The Blue Brazil claim a point but the opponents take two. TEAM : Hepburn, Walker, Rodden, Jordan, Hill, McNab (Murray), Butterworth, Berry (McDonald), MacPherson (Smith), Jack (Chalmers), Docherty SUBS NOT USED : Tait, Blair NEXT UP : We welcome St Mirren to Central Park for our final Viaplay Cup Group H game in Tuesday 25th July."

"Just seen that the 3 best placed runners up from these groups progress. This is like running for the last train home, getting to the station 5 minutes late, but then finding out there’s a 15 minute delay. Time for a ciggie AND still get home after all. This is what todays game is all about."

"Iron Duke, with the League Cup its group stage, with three more games to come, including St Mirren. Love to find a stream for that one, get my local pub to to hook it up. They could have it on the blackboard outside, “Live football tonight! Cowdenbeath vs St Mirren SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP ~ GROUP STAGE”"

Half~time and just the goal down. Be a brave man to bet against them turning this round second half. Just brilliant to see COWDENBEATH back on vidi~printers. Albeit this could be the only time this season. Back in the big time. Enjoy it while it lasts.
