West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of England midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season. The 28-year-old joins the Hammers from Manchester City and could make his debut in Thursday’s Premier League fixture with AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium.

I see in the Paper Talk that we are linked with the CB Mario Hermoso. I know nothing about him and have not knowingly watched him but if we can get a 28 yo Spanish International who is currently playing CL football for Atletico Madrid on a free then that has to be a move in the right direction and would enable us to not need to sell Paqueta if his arm can be twisted to stay. Encouraging that we are at least looking at these sort of deals. I see that Sevilla are looking to offload En-Nesyri... can't believe he is only 26. Only one year left on his contract... can see a deal like that finally being done which shouldn't break the bank either. Just need someone other than Dithering Dave in charge.

"Ludo - well he has seen plenty of U21's and U18's when he has watched other Premiership clubs, in fact a couple of teams I have watched played 16 year olds!! He simply wants to buy success and he is pretty useless at that too."

"ludo, I think its pretty much pointless predicting or wanting anything while Sullivan is still making decisions. I only mention Steve because it would suit the Steidten model, having a coach with very little ego or wanting to be in control of external decisons. at the moment (and who knows what's the clear truth), but isn't there a committee that has to agree unanimously on a target before it goes ahead. the dwarf even counselled silkman before the plug was pulled on the young ghana winger (now off to brighton). there should be one decision maker, noble nowhere near recruitment decisions. let steidten do the job, and that can only work properly with someone like Potts or another coach oriented manager. I don't think that suits Sullivan's controlling nature, so I expect the worst in the next few months"

He does go occasionally yes but doesn't take much of an interest. Apparently Nolan is the one who seems to care most. Moyes hadn't head of George Earthy until the 1/4 of the FAYC last season apparently.

I'd love to know if Moyes has ever watched the U21 or U18s play.

It would be a big leap to give Potts the role in the summer but a good bold move IMO. Can't see it happening though unless Steidten has taken a particular shine to him. We should have got rid of Moyes at the end of January and given Potts the job then... he could have had the rest of the season with Heitinga alongside him to settle into the role with little risk attached.

"How are our youth teams doing, not too bad as TM points out. Regarding the FA youth Cup, won by us last season, Millwall play up at Leeds tonight in a semi final. Win that and they play Man City in the final."

"currently, the PL2 squad are second in the league (a couple of points behind the yids) and in the semi finals of the premier league international cup (playing PSV next tuesday). not bad for a squad that's been deprived of Marshall & Kodua for months, and Mubama/Earthy currently getting splinters on the bench. give Potts the main job"

Ludo Fully agree with this. Youth players need senior games to progress. Sure the staked are higher than European leagues and the standard is too. But the benefit to them and the club is MASSIVE. MOYES is really pathetic with developing youth players.

"The main reason why Moyes needs to go is is refusal to use the youth properly. Other teams have shown that it can be done if the players are good enough and given a chance. Our youth team players are certainly as good as Liverpools. Using the best (most suitable) six as first team squad players next season is a win win... it will save on transfer fees (and higher wages), it motivates the youth and therefore the whole club from top to bottom and it will also improve the youth team players who will come on with experience. Moyes's inability to see / do this shows that, even after four years at the club, he only has his stubborn self interest at heart. Using the youth in this way also, and most importantly, means that the transfer kitty doesn't need to be spread too thinly... Steidten can concentrate on getting 3-4 really decent players in to replace the 2-3 players who will likely drop out of the first 14 players that have been flogged to death by Moyes."

I dont think McTominay would be a disaster.... problem is it follows Moyes's pattern and I guess if Moyes stays he will have to sign up to Steidten picking players and he may not fit Steidtens criteria.

I’d be interested in Wan- Bissaka ( spelling) too if he can be had. We need some speed at right back. It’s one of the key positions we need to upgrade.

Mctomminay wouldn’t be a bad addition if the price is right. I’d be on board with that pick up.
