"ED - Take your point ref Toney and putting aside who our manager might be - Depending on price, personally I would def take Toney, no he's not world class but he's a very good player and could be very good for us for 4-5 years. But ultimately do I think we will sign him? Nope."

"Gibbs-White is an excellent player, would be very interesting to see him under Moyes and how he would adapt to playing in a position that doesn't suit his best qualities. I think people go way OTT on Toney, he's a very good rather than being a top quality striker. Arsenal should be aiming for better. As for us, at the money being quoted and given FFP, it'd be a terrible signing, a 28 year old with no sell on value? He absolutely stunk the place out against us As many have said, it all depends on who's here. Genuinely no point signing a striker under Moyes, he's been trying for 3 years, and as I've said at the start of the last 2 seasons, come the end of the season, we'll be relying on patching up Antonio come the run in. I've been 100% right."

Cant see Toney going anywhere other than Arsenal. Seems to be the missing piece in their puzzle. Much better goalscorer than Jesus and Havertz. Solanke would definitely be an improvement on what we have but how much would he be costing us now? 50 million? Signing him in the summer would have been ideal when many were turning their nose up at him. See from the comments below some still do!

"We seem to like going back in for players year after year... I see that Sevilla are letting En-Nesyri for £17m. I can imagine getting him at that price. Can't see any way we get Toney as Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs will be all over him. Morgan Gibbs-White would be an ideal replacement for Paqueta... can't see him going to a top six side so we have to be in the running... would cost a big proportion of Paqueta's fee but good age and very similar type of player."

I just googled rhe Gudmundsson bloke About 1 goal in 3 appearances for Genoa. He reminds me of Bowen *a bit*!!! Runs in behind. Right foot and headed goals mainly Pretty good. More suited to our team than Scamacca was. Serie A defending not as tight as Prem. You'd like to think the scouts know about him wouldn't you

"To be fair to Sullivan, Toney was recommended by Barry Fry when he was playing in League One, not the Championship. It's a big step up from there to the PL. If it was that obvious that he was going to be a top player then Newcastle would have kept him instead of selling him for peanuts to Peterborough after 5 mediocre loan spells at various League One clubs."

I bet Sullivan Will be reluctant to sign Toney for big bucks after he rejected the chance to sign him years ago when he was recommeneded to him when Toney was in the championship Sullivan said Toney wouldnt make it in the premierleague back then Thank God we got a director of football now

What's the point in spending an arm and a leg on decent strikers when Moyes will ruin them with his unadventurous style of play. Who in their right mind would sign for us knowing they'd be on their own forty yards from anotger teammate waitng to be kicked by a couple of hairy centre backs? We signed two decent strikers and Moyes turned them into shadows of their former selves.

"I’d rather Toney than Solanke. Seeing as we need homegrown players and most of the best alternatives could cost almost as much, I’m expecting we’ll go all out for Toney. Outside of homegrown, Santiago Gimenez, Brobbey, Guirassy, Openda, Thijs Dallinga, and Jonathan David will most likely be targets. Just hope Moyes is gone so whoever we get doesn’t become a huge waste of resources yet again."

Don't have a good record of developing. So we need a striker ready to hot the ground running. I'd take Toney if we could get him for 44 to 55mill. Hopefully less Also we need someone to develop into the next striker so we don't need to blow 55 mill again in 4 yrs. Someone like Gyokeres a year ago or Toney 4 years ago etc

"Yet again Nutsack is missing everyones point.... Lone strikers all have to ""run the channels"" as you cringingly call it... god you are weird.. cos they are lone strikers and thats where the ball ends up so they go where the ball is... But as when we set up to attack with a front 3 with Bowen and Kudus you want Antonio or whoever is the striker in the middle.. You've not played football have you... its all just cliches with you.."

"That said, I have absolutely no idea who we ""should"" sign. We need to replace the ageing Antonio, and with a striker good enough to lead the line for a team that has been in Europe for the past three years. There aren't many who will be available this summer."

"Not Solanke. No offence meant to him, as he's having a decent season, but we're a little bit better than the likes of Solanke. This year might be a bit of an exception for him, as everything Bournemouth do is geared towards him. But if you take out his Championship seasons (getting goals against the likes of Rotherham and Millwall is just not the same), then his Premier League goalscoring record is not that great. I'm always wary of paying premium prices for the guy that's had his one good season. Our fans have lost patience with better strikers than Solanke down the years."
