"For several years now we always seem to have an old, slow squad. Ironically Fornals, Benny, Kehrer and Scammaca were all of the age where you would get a fair few years out of them. Ideally we need someone who will rebuild but with younger players so we get to a stage when each season you just need to get a couple of quality players in rather than a major rebuild every 3 or 4 years. Buying too many the wrong side of 28 just creates that need to constantly refresh and wastes money."

BillyJenningsBoots 9:18 Tue Apr 23 There's no debating he's been by far the most successful manager the dildo merchants have employed. All of the others are amongst our worst managers at least going on win percentage (including Moyes' first stint). I'll be happy to see the back of him. This isn't a defense of him. This is more to point out how badly our owners have fucked up previous appointment. Hopefully Steidten has some real pull here. Otherwise I think it's Benitez or dyche whoever will be less fussy about our lack of transfer dealings.

"I wonder what Moyes makes of all this? Can his pride and ego cope with it. Will he walk before his contract expires? Hard to have much sympathy, he's got stuck in a rut all of his own making and hasn't learnt from his mistakes or the bleeding obvious pointers and refuses to change or adapt and is now repeating the mistakes and going backwards which is plain foolish. Looks like Leverkusen away was the last straw for the players, a few were pretty vocal about paying them too much respect. The Fulham & Palace performances since are no coincidence. The home leg was the players deciding to lay it all on line to try to get a result or at least go out with a bang and show Moyes what could be achieved if he wasn't so fucking timid and negative and given the fans something that night. No way did Moyes instruct them to do that, they were possessed His failure to build a squad and use it along with his ruination of all strikers and others he didn't like, has left us with the oldest and smallest squad in the league to a point where we have literally no options other than his preferred 13 players, that once again needs needs another rebuild. He's had approximately 400m over his tenure and lost us tens of millions by refusing to play many of those players and devaluating them. (Rice is a generational talent so doesn't count) With the crackdown on FFP it's simply unsustainable. Even Sullivan is not that stupid and patient, he's obviously seen the light at last and respects Steiden who to his credit he brought to the club. Thanks for the memories, I don't hate him as many appear to do, just think his methods, stubbornness and actions have finally come back to bite him."

"Let’s all just agree on Fonseca then… he’s got Lille playing great, brings on young players and is at the end of his contract. What’s not to like?"

"Amorim Fonseca Lopetegui In that order. If not, I'd take the Chuckle Brothers over Moyes. Either of them, even the one that's Hovis."

One thing Lopetegui does is the fans and players love him.

"Lopetegui Had financial problems at both Sevilla and Wolves and basically overachieved. He’s not my choice but he settled and improved both squads and would do well here but maybe not amazing. Could see us be closer/in the top six on a regular basis but never challenging the top four. At least we would have a go at the cups and top four when we play them! All I’ve seen is that it’s agents pushing him to us and Sullivan isn’t impressed. Apparently he wants Fonseca, Tuchel or Silva (believe to have a reasonable release clause)."

No Lopetegui is not the most inspiring unfortunately wea maybe limited in who we can get and lets be honest he'd make a massive difference compared to Moyes... On the flipside we should aim as high as we can....

"Goose, that is a good point. Re: Moyes, I wonder if he has reached a certain age where his thought process is ossifying. To not use your substitutes in the modern game borders on senility. I'm actually older than Moyes and the way he speaks and the choices he makes during games beggar belief. It's hard to get angry with him because I just don't think he knows any different."

"I agree with you, and he wouldn’t be my first choice. However, I’ve seen many posts on here and other sites who say he’s no different from Moyes. Frankly that’s ridiculous, his CV is streets ahead of Moyes and while he’s more cautious in his approach than Fonseca - he’s nothing like Moyes."

"Goose. I'll concede your point re: Sevilla Here are the details. Julen Lopetegui at Sevilla On 5 June 2019, Lopetegui was appointed as the new Sevilla manager on a three-year contract. In his first year, they finished fourth to qualify for the Champions League, and on 21 August they defeated Inter Milan 3–2 in the 2020 UEFA Europa League final, his first club honour. Lopetegui agreed to a further two-year extension on 10 January 2021. On 5 October 2022, however, following five losses in eight matches in the new season – the last being 4–1 at home against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League – he was dismissed. I just don't like the cut of his jib. I also think that the way he faced down the ownership at Wolves won't enamour him to the dwarf."

"Also if you are courting a new manager it doesn't hurt to be seen to be publicly talking with arguably the most high profile option... the likes of Fonseca, Slot, Tuchel etc... are more likely to think 'well if Amorim is talking to 'lil old West Ham then perhaps I need to get in there sharpish'. Very possible, Ludo. Could imagine that clever bit of managerial merry go round mind games coming from someone like Captain Steidten. Gets us right in amongst all the chatter with the big boys at the managerial table. If it's 1 from Amorim, Fonseca, Lopetegui, Slot, Tuchel (in that order), I'll still be very happy that all my wishes came true."

Twoleft Im just sick of hearing Moyes is our best ever manager... Well he ain't... and never will be! All this fuss we ate now hearing.... ooooh lets announce it and give him the heroes send off he deserves... fuck that hes been useless for 2 and a half seasons apart from a 3rd rate euro paints sherpa cup win.. So if I hear someone else say hes our best manager well is isnt as good as Billy Bonds based on all games win percentage and Bonds was in charge for just 20 or so games less so is a good comparison unlike your pathetic attempt at undermining the stats by adding Brooking ?üôÑ ...
