"I think we are a good proposition for a very decent ambitious manager. Yes the squad isn’t young but it’s clear there’s potential for them to be much better if they are played in a better way with a better mindset and augmented with some young arrivals. If we can hang on to them there are some really good players, and no doubt some others will get a new lease of life under a new man. We have some money, we have the fanbase and the right man could easily ‘do an Emery’ here. However the one sticking point is the geezer who signs the cheques. It’s no good stiedten identifying great talent and getting deals almost done if the porn dwarf won’t pull the trigger. It’s the case that everyone including Moyes wanted that winger, isn’t it? Before Sullivan vetoed it. Don’t see the point in stiedten being there if Sullivan won’t trust him to do his job, or has the delusion he can do it better. Moyes reluctance to play Phillips actually fits in with the pattern of a player he actually didn’t want…."

"Full Claret Jacket 1:27 Thu Apr 25 Much as I like Tim Steidten and his way of finding players, he is not a guarantee of success and relying on him being right every time when its not his money is a huge risk. It's a huge risk trusting the guy with a fantastic reputation and proper track record in football? Why on earth employ him then? There's a weird narrative that anyone who wants our highly paid Director of Football to make the football decisions at the club automatically think he's the messiah. It's more a case of thinking he's the best person qualified at the club to make football decisions. No point having him if not. I'd take the person 10th on his list over the person 1st on Sullivan's list, tbh."

"Simon - I dunno, it's very easy, and let's be honest, lazy to bash Sullivan, but he did get Pellegrini in who wasn't exactly a safety first type of coach, and you can also say the same about Bilic's appointment. At this stage I'm prepared to give Sullivan the benefit of the doubt, this school of thought that I keep reading on here, from some, that he's just happy if we finish 17th, seems rather cliched to me and I can't see too much prove of that what with money spent? Then there is the scarf factor, what really would be the point in appointing him if we are just to go down the tried and tested route? I suspect he would fuck off if we did."

"I think it’s safe to say, what we want from a manager and what Sullivan wants from a manager are two different things. First and foremost to him, is staying in the PL. Playing attractive football is just a bonus, and certainly not a necessity. He’d probably love nothing more than to give Moyes a new contract, but season ticket renewals might be telling him to do otherwise. Getting rid of Moyes is just part of the problem."

Again where Moyes has been good is he’s shown we don’t look out of place in Europe and with the right manager we could make a strong case to be in THAT European competition. For all we know that upcoming manager may want a season off from European games to gel what will be a newish squad….and their debut season in the PL. Of course being West Ham it’s likely to be one we had to take as all the others fucked us off….. :-)

"Some decent names tossed around but any manager coming in inherits an old side which isn't in Europe (hence income and attraction for players is hit) and I would suggest will struggle to replace enough players to be in contention for Europe places next year. With players wanting out, at end of contracts and debatable youth options it will be a gamble for whoever comes in. On the flip side for a manager who wants to build their own side with their own players, there is a bit of money and they could start that process. I'd suggest the big names being mentioned will only be interested in a Champions league club that has a number of quality players already. Frankly we should have made the change at the end of last season when we were a more attractive option. Much as I like Tim Steidten and his way of finding players, he is not a guarantee of success and relying on him being right every time when its not his money is a huge risk."

"twoshortplanks, the key part of your post was spurs offered the job to him, the dwarf isn't interested in anyone independent of his agent circle dope, I rarely post on any transfer thread so I'm not sure what the fuck you're crying about? you do know we're about a month away from one of the biggest rebuilds the club's had in recent years? a squad full of ageing players and very little depth, all because of the useless prick you worship"

"Oooh excellent. Much like the transfer thread every year, someone's already losing their shit at possibly not getting a manager who we possibly might be interested in because he possibly might be going elsewhere."

Why would Slot have chosen us? He turned down Spurs last year so what makes you think he would have said yes to us?

"the decision on the new manager will tell us whether Sullivan is still playing the egotistical clown he is. I also wouldn't expect Steiden to stick around if he cant influence the decision given it will undermine his role. Despite the spin in the media, can't say my hopes are particularly high."

"I'm sick of that midget cսnt. it's no secret he still takes advice from cunts like silkman, they should be cut adrift and steidten in charge. as I said before, the attention and any negativity needs to be directed towards that pair of cunts in the boardroom"

"Sullivan needs to listen to the bloke he brought in to improve the return on investment in the football side of the business. Looking at the transfer and recruitment business during Sullivans 13-14 year tenure its largely been a “car crash” and cost millions in losses on players. If Steidten is to change that it absolutely has to mean getting a coach that can work with him and the players he and the recruitment team identify and bring in. It also has to, wherever possible, leverage any home grown talent. Even if they prove not to make the grade in the first 11 over time they can help the squad and even be sold for decent money having some experience rather than us getti g nothing when their contracts run out and deciding to try and get first team football elsewhere. Sullivan liking Loptegui would automatically mean he’s a no from my standpoint. Sullivan has proved countless times he does not have a clue on players and football although he did get lucky on Lanzini. He’s been “played” by a string of sychophantic agents to take their “offerings” Id also prefer Gary Oneill to Potter l, Silva and of course Loptegui. Just my opinion but O’Neill has twice improved supposed “doomed for relegation” teams and could do even better with some bigger resources behind him. Opinions as always"

Given that Tim is acting as a conduit to bring in a new manager I expect he is steering clear of the incumbent right now.
