"Lopetegui just smacks of a Pellegrini mk 2 though, yeah you can chuck the clubs he has managed and won but same was happening when Pellegrini got the gig it was ‚Äòcant turn our nose up at PL manager‚Äô If Lopetegui was in a Job not one West Ham fan would have him had their pick. Just Sullivan being a tight fisted little cսnt again."

Lopetegui is a good manager. You don't win the Europa League with Sevilla . Manage real Madrid and the Spanish national team if you're shite . Also done well at wolves pulled them out the relegation zone after a terrible start under the previous manager .It's the fact he's a Sullivan pick that is the issue .it should be left to steitden . . He walked out on wolves because they sold players he didn't want to sell . And we all know Sullivan has form for doing exactly that .

"I think the general consensus about lopetegui is well wide of the mark and a definite upgrade on Moyes football. The only thing that concerns me though is him leaving so soon after a Clubs in trouble like with Wolves. Although I don't know the entire ins and outs and his reasons may be valid. As a manager though, I've generally liked a lot of his work be it Wolves right up against a relegation battle bottom, sevilla winning a Europa League Cup playing in style, or even the times starting out when he coached bithe the U19s and U21s Spanish teams full of big names to Euros glory back to back. He's a serious manager and 1 better than Moyes that would deliver better, enjoyable football once more given time."

Am presuming AMORIM has bigger fish to fry & is binning us off Would obviously prefer him as one on the up than the likes of Tuchel or Lopetegui Guessing we made an error in having Amorim go to Sullivan's ESSEX CHIC GAFF Sullivan greets him with his Russian hat on before introducing Sullivan Jr in his velvet monogrammed slippers By the time he has been walked past all those statues in the house and been invited to take a seat on the couch covered in endangered species PELTS the Portuguese bloke is eyeing his escape

"There seems to be a media groundswell for Lopetegui to get the job. My reaction to this is exactly the same as when Moyes was first linked with West Ham, I hope not. Moyes went on to perform better than I thought he would, but of course he hasn't made us into a top six side and neither will Lopetegui. I fear this will remain the case whilst Sullivan remains the main man. At best Lopetegui will keep us in and around the lower European places whereas under Moyes we will (infact already ) struggle to do this."

Lee Trundle 11:27 Fri Apr 26 Then I remember he wanted to buy an aging Cresswell and Ings at the start of this season. Exactly this.... can do without having a manager with that sort of judgement!

"we SHOULD get this sorted asap, but you know we won't. Moyes will be left to drag out the season with the odd story about how he might still keep his job and that the board are undecided. After the last game of the season we'll announce he's leaving and then be left with a choice of Steve Cooper of Lopetegui."

I see Liverpool want Slot and he is quoted as saying he wants the job and its just down to negotiations on compensation which he thinks should happen. So looks like Liverpool will have the appointment done by May Hopefully we are working to a timetable to have someone appointed before the season end rather than DICK about for weeks

At Sevilla Lopetegui worked under Monchi who was and is one of the best sporting directors around. So he can and has worked in that set up.

I see XAVI has changed his mind and will be back next season so Barcelona is one of the options now off the table for managers looking to move Asked the office Wolves fan about Lopetegi & he said he would be ok .... as long as you give him plenty of money. Obviously he left on season eve at Wolves as the Chinamen turned the tap off

"Biggest issue I see with Lopetegui, is that he's unlikely to be happy as a 'coach' and will want to be the manager, which won't go well with Steidten. The other thing is we have a stellar Academy at the moment, churning out high quality, and these players need to be given the chance to grow into the first team. Lopetegui is more likely to go down the road of tried and trusted, and not embrace the risk and opportunity of youth. Lastly, he's yet another manager on the down trend. West Ham for him will be a poor relation to his previous roles...and managers like that are less hungry, and less innovative and more prone to going through the motions. Whilst Amorim has felt well out of reach, as well as now having raised expectations to probably an unrealistic level, he is an example of a manager with lofty aspirations and the best of his career ahead of him...and that kind of desire and hunger is where we should be looking. It's also exactly what Sullivan doesn't trust. He has a small mindset, total risk aversion, and his thinking is set in the past. I respect he has millions tied up in the club, and as custodian his role is to safeguard against calamity as well as strive for continuing success and it's easy for me to say sitting here to 'take the path less travelled', but having brought in a Technical Director, they need to let him get on and 'do' the management of the footballing side of the club. He's been brought in to be in charge of footballing operations...""Full Control"" as he described it in the recent interview. Sullivan either needs to get rid of him, take us back into the dark ages out of fear, and be done with it, or let the man he hired do the job he was hired to do, and judge him on it...and if Steidten goes with Lopetegui so be it. One other thing I've been thinking about....we all want massive change on the pitch, but is there an intermediate step which is to bring someone in who can at least work with the majority of what we have currently? If Amorim was suggesting he basically needs to turf out half the squad, I can see why that (much as we might like the idea of it) would be unpalatable. Whoever comes in needs to be able to get a tune out of the below as the core make up of his senior squad: Areola, Emerson, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Bowen, Downes, Cornet and Kudus, and maybe Benrahma if he comes back. If they can get Johnson to re-sign with the club (seems unlikely) all the better, but we clearly need to make way where Zouma, Ogbonna, Antonio, Ings, Cresswell, Coufal, and in all likely Paqueta are concerned. We're in a position where we will need to go and recruit talented younger players for a couple of reasons (ageing squad, U21s get's round the home grown player rule, plus the scope to sell and continue the rebuild), so the senior players above have to be the central group as we aren't in a position to replace them too. Whoever comes in has to be able see a way to mould those aspects of the squad with whatever additions come in to replace 7 listed."

You've got to be pretty gifted to manage Porto and Real Madrid for 4 years and not win a sausage. Then I remember he wanted to buy an aging Cresswell and Ings at the start of this season. He's easily the most uninspiring one out of the names chucked out there.

"From what I've read about Lepotogui it's only Wolves where his team have played like that and he's a front foot pressing normally. Short passing, no long balls. Full backs bombing forwards, defenders pressing aggressively. Sounds nothing like Moyes. Not that I want him, I'd prefer a younger coach.."

"Steiden hasn't been brought in to search high and low for a new coach, he's been brought in to make the right decisions for the benefit of the club. If they think Silva is the right man if who's available, if doesn't matter if he's down the road or in Fiji. I think Silva would be a great appointment."

Ain’t shooting you down Alfs. But I can’t see bringing in Steidten to hunt high and low for our next coach. Then go for a guy. Ten miles down the road. And as for Potter. I still reckon he is waiting for a call from Sir Jim. Although Ajax have come back in for him.

"Feel free to shoot me down, but I'm still being told that it's going to be Marco Silva. And Potter will be appointed as the next England manager after the Euros. As I say, just what I've been told by media friends. I'm certainly not ITK and have zero contacts at the club."

"I agree with AOI that nobody on here has a clue what is happening and we are all just guessing and pissing in the wind. But is it a waste of time? Probably not, as it's enjoyable 'banter' and it's good to discuss, same as the transfer window threads when the whole thread is full of complete shit, even the much revered (by some) Mr Wendel was spouting utter nonsense in his only two posts last time out. I remember one window not so long ago the thread had over 2000 posts and we didn't even sign one player, lol. As for Lop what's his face, don't want him, as said a typical Sullivan appointment, which was always the fear with Moyes going. Also Lop looks like a right miserable bastard with no personality. Don't like that."

"What Any Old Iron Said. Imagine the best replacement you can think of, then go fuck yourself because we ain't getting him. Man U, Bayern, and Liverpool looking for a new manager have royally fucked us. We can sell a project and the chance to build a club in any way you want, but we still ain't more appealing than the other 3. Forget your Slots, Amorims, and Tuchels, it ain't happening. This is really the litmus test of where the club is headed. If it's Lopetegui, which is what i think it's gonna be, it's a case of the dwarf shouting ""LOOK! A REAL MADRID MANAGER AT WEST HAM!!!"" when the reality is it's the cheap, safe, boring fucking option. I think I'm going to avoid these threads til July. All i know is, I would prefer a manager than i've never heard of. If i've heard of him, he's most likely not going to come because he's good or he's a fucking journeyman will accept a job offer form Sullivan."
