So we've 'missed out' on Lopetegui. I guess our loss is Milan's..... loss. Better than Moyes but fucking hell it would have been a disappointing appointment. Dread to think who dildo Dave has his eye on next. Is Dave Bassett still alive?!

"Sullivan is the constant down the years tyat appears, from the outside, to undermine tye coub’s ambitions. Its not intentional, its just his personality and psychology that seems to be like that of an addict. In his case, “power plays” whether thats interferring in transfer deals or business including “presents” to the manager, to undermining deals by being less tgan honorable, dishonest, “moving the goal posts” etc. This Amorin geezer was, like high profile signings and previous managerial appointments, allegedly taken to Sullivan’s pad for an interview. Ok he’s the manoe shareholder but so much about him being in control of negotiations and driving a hard bargain on the deal. I saw some of this in a previous life where the chairman of a major entertainment company lived and almost got a high from doing a great deal. He was a man of small stature too ? I suppose the mercenary nature of the industry means that it might not matter if the money is right but I’m not sure any prospective coach or manager and his agent team will enjoy tye experience of dealing with “Dildo Dave” as councidentally the Sporting Lisbon chairman was vocal in pointing out. There’s always the feeling to me that Sullivan’s shadow ( albeit small ) hangs over our club like a curse"

Manuel 2:39 Sun Apr 28 Take your point about his decision making but he stands out and is a champions league level player. He's not going to hang around too long at a club not in Europe if there's opportunities to move on to clubs who are.

"""I'm sure whatever happens in the next couple of months the club will end up looking 2bob"" yes I'm sure the club will find a way to fuck up. Either they will appoint someone worse or they wont have thought any of it through and it'll be Laurel and Hardy time trying to get someone in during August. That won't change until Sullivan goes."

"Agree with AT on all this, any new manager coming in will have to harness youth as well as existing 1st teamers and get a squad philosophy going. Moyes has had a unrealistic philosophy of playing 14 players in a 55-60 game season. Also I feel he's been too respectful of the bigger teams. I'd like to see a younger manager come in with a more fearless approach. We need to recruit a lot of pace this summer as well. However this Amorin manager seems to be using us as leverage to get a bigger move. Not giving a great first impression tbh"

"Can see Lopetegui doing well there. As for being like the Spanish Moyes, he's nothing of the sort."

"Mike, I make you right. My money would be on Sulivan, or someone close leaking the story re Amorin. Hoping that the appointment of Stiedten would stop us being such a circus. The handling of this situation does reek a bit."

"as I said before, the only alleged problem with his meeting is how many players he'd want to move on and replace, because it's a demanding system he plays. I'd imagine that may scare someone that takes forever just to get one player through the door like the poison dwarf. he's also not connected to his favourite agent, unlike fonseca"

"Like most I saw the Amorin press conference. I got the distinct impression the only apology on offer is how and why it got out, not an apology for talking to West Ham. I think the subsequent noise is of more concern. Suggestions that we do not have a playing squad suited to his style; well we don't have a squad at all so that shouldn't be an issue. So who leaked that story? Fact is in Bowen; Kudus and Paqueta we have 3 individuals who are attack minded and would walk into any team. Areola and Alvarez would walk into most. How many of those stay is the big unknown and getting players in during the Euro's will be tricky seeing as we are out of Europe. Moyes legacy is uncertainty, not the stability he bangs on about. We had home grown talent, Rice. The club would not match his ambition. We have attracted world class talent, Paqueta, we seem unable to match his ambition or even motivate him. We have an exciting youth team, none have been given a proper opportunity. Retention is an issue. That is not stability by any measure. Amorin would be a positive appointment which I would love to see. But, whoever it is, we want good football played on the front foot; making the best use of a very good youth squad; we want to attract and retain the best players around and they, in turn want to stay and be a part of our success; we want to be entertained in the full knowledge that results and entertaining football are not mutually exclusive."

If he wanted to give Liverpool a nudge then his agent can easily pass the story to the press that he’s talking to club X & Y. I don’t think Liverpool would see us a threat anyway. There was no need for him to actually come here and talk. Clearly some substance to the story.

"Sydney_Iron 12:03 Sun Apr 28 Oh do me a favour, how naive are you to think these types of talks don't go on all the fucking time? If you're sticking him in that bracket, are we just as bad for interviewing someone while we still have a manager? No one would ever get a fucking job, do you think the same of Slot for having an interview with Liverpool? Welcome to the real world, where people go for job interviews while they've got a job already. Happens all the time in football as well."

"Whoever it is they will need TIME to rebuild and make their mark.. I think the Villa / Emory success stories can happen, however lets see if that sustains over time. Also, look at Newcastle and Howe. They are not yet measurably better than us (on paper) after how many (3?) seasons and with the resources at their disposal? I'm sure that will come sooner than later but it will take time and patience. In our recent history have we ever been more successful over 4 seasons (on paper)? don't get me wrong I think its time for a change and to gamble on a new manager to take us forward, but it may take time, will require investment in the squad and who knows may come with some short term wobbles"

The Amorim stunt must be the only conspiracy theory going that PwoperNaughtyButNot doesn't believe in. For that reason alone I reckon it's true.

"No can't buy it, but it does beg the question what is he up to, us too? I noticed in the post match presser Moyes was asked about his position and he stayed silent and the lapdog sat next to him stated there can be no questions about that. What a fucking joke, this is going to run right up until the last possible minute, but deep down we all knew that anyway."

Yeah I'm not buying that it's ridiculous. For one he would have known Liverpool were going for Slot. Apparently we've been talking to him for a while amongst others of you're to believe all the rumours. But him coming as a stunt just carries no water for me.

Does anyone buy this “Amorim fly to West Ham for talks to make Liverpool aware he was available” narrative? It’s seems to be the very strong narrative across boards and socials and in the news now. Couldn’t his agent just pick up the phone and let Liverpool know? Seems a very elaborate and very silly plan.

"Tom - Oh come on now, take the blinkers off. Yes, he's had a good first season but has a way to go before the big boys would be interested. Final ball let's him down too often, runs into blind alley's, poor decision making etc. He hasn't had a great game for quite a while. Happy to be proved wrong."

"Putting the need for showing appreciation or otherwise aside, for one moment, the most important thing is, imho, to get a new appointment in place asap. We are out of Europe next season and need a rebuild. The new coach should be starting work in early June or we risk being an even bigger mess squad wise at tye start if next season"
