"Ludo - You're the sort of bloke that believes everything that's written in The Sun. I also see on the other thread that you think it makes sense to keep Ogbonna. Have a break and come back tomorrow, son :-)"

"It's not necessarily a fact that Lopetegui spoke to West Ham about it at all. It was just a throwaway aside in some Italian article. Why would he tell our club anything until he signed the contract at Milan? If he actually did it goes in his favour as being someone not wanting to waste our time by keeping us on hold, and who could blame him for choosing a club like AC Milan over us? Frankly I doubt that he'd be any more or less committed than Fonseca or Amorim or any other experienced manager. If you want someone committed then put Noble in charge. Agree though, my preferences would be Amorim, Fonseca, Hoeness, de Zerbi, Potter and quite a few others over Lopetegui."

Surely the fact that Lopategi informed the club that he was accepting Milan's job offer is enough to think his heart isn't in the job at ours and look for someone a bit more committed? I think it will be Amorim or Fonseca. Well 'hope' but with some foundation.

I wish AC Milan would hurry up and 'steal' LOLpetegui away from us.

"I see the 'usual suspects'....Whetstone, C&H are starting their Pravda like polls: Moyes renews vs Lopetegui, with the suggestion that Lopetegui is who the board (Sullivan) is most interested in and that's the likely choice. Fucking depressing! Lopetegui is such a Pellegrini style appointment."

"Sullivan should put an end to the present chaos by sending Moyes home on gardening leave to his local allotment plot fully paid up to end of June 2024(thanks for everything Jock, but you can fuck off now) and getting Fonseca signed up when he is a free agent. Any one of the jock’s coaching staff can stand in with a bonus for good results in the final three games. Done and dusted!"

Even Ray Chales could see that Wayne Rooney was going to be a top striker.

"Last time Moyes was replaced, Pellegrini was appointed on 22nd May, a week after Moyes' departure was confirmed. This season ends on 19th May, so you'd expect that any appointment would take place at end of May at the earliest."

"Agree Leroy. Despite the bollocks that comes out of his mouth about bringing through Rooney etc, he clearly does not have any interest in bringing through young players. When we had a bigger squad, and we had senior players on the bench, I felt like he definitely used more subs - not a huge amount more but it felt like he would use the bench a little more. Now, we play Spurs at home, the game is there for the taking which is evident for both teams and Spurs make 5 changes and yet Moyes doesn't make a single substituion. What is the point of putting those kids on the bench when he has absolutely no intention of using them? There is no Academy of Football with Moyes in charge."

"LeroysBoots 11:09 Tue Apr 30 Couldnt agree more. As you say, may not make Prem level but lets give these players a chance as early as possible. Gives them early insight into level they need to get to and sometimes thats the key. We are allegedly looking at predominantly home grown players like Greaves at Hull, the best CB in tye Championship ? Yet we have Downes at Southampton who deserves a proper chance since he his the outstanding defensive midfielder in that division. A coach who harnesses youth where possible. Fonseca seems most suited based on what we read? Sullivan is the worry still though. The owner is like our current manager? Myopic thinking, knows best and favours older coaches that must have Premiership experience and a good past reputation . Low risk in his head but we need a culture change after Moyes and something more revolutionary imo to join up the teams in terms of philosophy, style etc Now we hear nothing happening until end of May !! Time the board meets mid June earliest. Procrastination is Sullivan and the clubs way always :-(. We need to get moving asap with the scale of changes required in players etc. Arguably as big a risk for next if we leave things to fester. Surely they know Moyes is gone? I would he too sure"

"Most reports have it that Klopp earns £15m a year so it would seem fairly reasonable of Amorim's agent to ask for £10m. We're apparently paying Moyes £4-5m, but Pellegrini was getting £8m allegedly, and if that's the case then maybe asking for £10m isn't that unreasonable to start negotiating at with us as well. £4-5m seems to be the average rate for the clubs vying for the Europa League spots though and, probably as with players, their salary expectations should be based on what they were earning previously to some extent as well as what the current manager earns in the position, and Amorim is probably on about £2m at Sporting."

"According to reports Freddie Potts has been exceptional this since at Wycombe, winning 2 X players of the year awards. Some might say he found his level but I'd like to think that given the opportunity he would make a career at West Ham So that's why we need a manager who looks at the youth players and gives them a chance, it's criminal that Moyes just blatantly ignored them The padding out of his squad on match days with youth players was a joke as he hardly ever used any of them"

Alfs - who knows but that doesn’t ring true with the reports that we were prepared to offer him considerably more (twice?) what Liverpool we’re prepared to pay. Or does it? Perhaps Liverpool offered him £3m a year and we £5m? Not sure about the signing on fee? All conjecture!! Manuel - interesting. Perhaps our youth playing 3 at the back is some master plan after all. Or perhaps it just shows the lack of joined up thinking at the club.

"Again might be bollocks, but there are claims that he wanted a ten million signing on fee plus ten million a year for a three year contract. Greed is the vilest of traits."

"Might be bollocks, but saw this as to why the Scoucers didn't go with Amorin.. Liverpool officials had concerns over how Ruben Amorim's preferred tactics would work at Anfield, reports have claimed. After seeing top target Xabi Alonso confirm his desire to remain with Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool drew up a new shortlist of potential targets to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager and Amorim was widely believed to be a major candidate for the role. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool were impressed by Amorim but his preferred tactical setup - a three-man defence- did not win over those leading the manager search. There were concerns that moving away from a four-at-the-back defence would be too difficult for Liverpool at this stage, while a tactical switch would also have a significant impact on the club's long-term plans. Liverpool set their academy sides up to mimic the tactics of the first team and therefore there are several youth teams whose development has focused on a four-man defence. A move away from this would cause significant problems further down the pyramid."

"ludo 21 ‘I don’t suppose Sullivan even knows what day of the week it is’. I agree and on that basis and also because our chairman only owns 38.8 per cent of the club, the other shareholders should outvote the prick when an important decision has to made involving the club’s future."
