Yeah I'm not sure that Moyes' league stats in 2022/23 should be a benchmark for anything positive

"Onsideman - well 37% isn't bad at all for a team that was bottom, but my point was he isn't worse than Moyes. Seeing as Moyes percentage would have been a fair bit lower over the same time."

I still think it will be Amorim or Fonseca or a left field choice. Either way my guess is it depends on who will allow Steidten to control / have a big say in the transfers. Lopetegui won’t be a Steidten choice but it might work if he allows Steidten to buy and sell. . No English / British manager will want a Steidten type in his ear.

"37% win percentage with a Wolves squad who should never have been in that position in the first place. So not as good as O'Neil despite the latter losing Neves, Nunes, Collins, Traore, Jiminez, Podence, Moutinho etc"

"I don't want this bloke but he isn't that bad at all.. Was hardly average at Wolves.. Ask any team who are bottom with 23 games to go if they'd take a manager who would win 9 of their last 23 and move them 7 places up the table, they'd all take that. His Wolves out performed us and our shit manager... So also not sure how that makes him worse than Moyes... I'd definitely have him if it was a straight choice between the two of them.. 20 games as Spain manager 16 wins and 4 draws and didn't get sacked for his football.."

"I sincerely hope Lopetegui is a smokescreen Not quite sure how he originally got the Porto job given that he'd only coached at second team level, but was underwhelming and fired having been given the biggest budget in their history. Inherited a generational Spain team so unbeaten in 20 before getting sacked mid-tournament for agreeing to join Madrid. Sacked by Madrid for being second best in a 2 team league Decidedly average at Wolves I can't think why any owner would appoint him. Actually, scrap that. Unemployed for 9 months and cheap Milan fans had a petition. We should do likewise"

I see that Redknapp Sandbanks has put the boot in with 'a careful what you wish for' talksport special. Have Moyesie down at Bournemouth then Harry.

"Yes I think he’ll be worse than Moyes, his style at wolves was no better. It’s not exactly a forward thinking appointment & he is getting the job cos he is simply the cheap option."

"Given it looks likely to be Lopetegui, I've done the old Youtube research. Defensive, organised, not great to watch but tactically smart, hard working teams that press but not a high press. I'll give him a chance if it's him, but fucking hell. After the last couple of years of watching the worst football I've ever seen us play, I really wanted something exciting, he definitely ain't that. But he's definitely better than Moyes, so there's at least that."

"without saying anything about his actual credentials (okay) or style (better than moyes but that isn't saying much), the thing that is tragic is that he is so obviously a sullivan signing with fuck all input from anyone else. just the absolute default. he can't employ a benitez or an allardyce, so he goes through his rollerdecks to find a manager who kept a midtable club in the league who is out of work and plays a somewhat better brand of football than moyes. feels like a backslide to exactly the kind of old school structure that we were naively hoping that bringing in a sporting director and binning moyes would mean we were evolving past."

Presumably Lopetegui is the cheapest option... unemployed for a season and desperate for a new job. I agree with others that it's not a done deal though. Still think Lopetegui could be a smokescreen to supress the Amorim rumours until Sporting's season is done.

"As someone who is massively Moyes out & have been since before the WC last season genuinely I’d rather keep him than get Lopetegui, it’s an horrendous appointment & I hope Sullivan gets fucking dogs abuse for it. I think we’d be fighting relegation with him, shocker of a call if it was to happen."

"Can't believe for a minute loputegui is a Steidten pick, and thats a major issue here as it means the dwarf is still involved. And as long as he is we're fucked. I mean if one chairman calls another a ""dildo salesman"" it reeks of contempt and ridicule for suliivan, and that's the tip of the iceberg as far as his dealings have been publicised."

"From what I've read about Lepotogui he's not like Moyes. Didn't Seville win Europa with a few young players who he brought through and pressing from the front? Oh and the last thing I've read has convinced me. *the Spanish Moye"" everyone knows that cսnt knows fuck all about football. Not that I want him, but he's clearly better than Moyes.. Joined Wolves last season when they were in the bottom three and finished above us."

"I'm not reading too much into the alleged Lop talks, fancy there will be a few more twists and turns yet. Just watched Moyes' presser, yet another very spiky, awkward one. I'll never know where the cսnt gets his bravado from, problem is it's always bottom rudder, local journo's in the room. Any senior journo worth his salt wouldn't be seen dead wasting their time with this cսnt, so he gets to bully the squeaky voiced, nervous also rans. Just fuck off, you ain't wanted."

Moyes confirmed out = good. Should be done and dusted now. Amorim wants to come? Would be brilliant. 10/10 Lopetegui. I feel he'd be ok 7/10 Fonseca looks more attacking if he is in the picture at all. Ideally someone who will develop the Yoof. Bad sign= Sullivan isn't listening to Steidten
