A truly great night at the London. Well done to all who were there. I fucking loved it. For a very long time I thought we might pull it off. Mentally exhausted at the end. No voice today. IRONS ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"Sullivan and Moyes need to face up to the question of why is the squad so small and weak, not only did they fail to learn from the same mistakes of 2 years ago in the Jan window, but it's even worse this time as the squad is even smaller and older. We've gone out of Europe even earlier and are worse off in the league and looking like we won't qualify for Europe again. Basically we are going backwards. Both need to move on and let people take over who can and want to move the club on. Sullivan particularly is holding us back and will continue to do so."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
Fans were sensational last night. An old fashioned atmosphere. Alonso and Xhaka both praised our fans.
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
Performances/atmospheres like that are organic and cannot be replicated every game unfortunately. Certainly up there with that of the Sevilla game. Playing football on the front foot and getting fans off their seats is certainly a way of achieving it. I hope whoever does come in next season was paying attention.

Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
I still have hope for some of our squad players (not maybe the ageing ones) but I'd look at Newcastle and how a change of manager swapped some of their squad from being deemed utter gash not fit for the PL and a waste of money to being what they thought they had bought under Howe......

"Fantastic atmosphere last night. We made them look very ordinary until the legs gave way. Cheating by them was shocking, and I think the Ref was trained up by PL refs, he was that biased and didnt give us anything. Went expecting very little but we could have nicked it. Why could we not play like that against PL relegation fodder. Moyes has to be responsible for the squad depth and eventual tiredness which cost us. Not that many people pissed off after their goal from where I was sitting. The fans last night were immense."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"""Quite a few left immediately after Leverkusen scored. Sad to see as I thought the team were great and deserved more than that."" It is sad. Chanting ""West Ham till I die"" then they scarper as soon they pull a goal back. They should have their own chants ""West Ham till a few minutes before the train back to Essex arrives"""

"Liked the way there was applause for OUR players after they equalised and choruses of We love you West Ham we do. The crowd were right up for it and appreciated the way we played. Thats all we want , effort and a positive attitude Can we wish for THAT or should we be careful?"

It wouldn't surprise me if we're next seasons Aston villa. Providing we get the managerial appointment right . We've clearly got some outstanding players. But the squad depth is absolutely pitiful . Moyes was an idiot for wanting a smaller squad . Especially with a tight arse chancer like Sullivan as chairman. That's music to his ears . Give him an inch and he'd happily take a mile .and he did .
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"Great atmosphere in the stadium - best I've heard it for a while. If Bowen had scored I think we might have just had enough - although it may have prompted Moyes to sit back. Pleased that the majority of the fans stayed and applauded the team at the end. They gave everything, and the first half was the best I've seen us for a long time. Complete mismanagement of the players he has when he sets us up on the defensive against the likes of Sheffield United. Quite a few left immediately after Leverkusen scored. Sad to see as I thought the team were great and deserved more than that."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"absolutely. This team is full of good palyers who can play good football, they are just not allowed. We have the best squad (without a striker) we have had for years. Moyes just makes them into shit players. We can do it when we press as a team (instead of a one man pointless press) and play soccer!"

Downes was in the crowd last night watching the game. A pity he was'nt in the squad to be able to brought on when we needed a change. Hopefully he will be back next season.
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
Anybody know what that ruckus that was going on by the tunnel just before half time? I bet Nolan was involved?

Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"Ref made 11 bookings yet missed the 2 nailed on easiest ones, kicking / throwing the ball away denying us keeping the momentum when we were on the ascendancy. Don’t know what went on with the benches but best action there since Pards and Wenger, I heard Moyes say that he was disgusted with their bench last game."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
"In the first half, last night, we played out of our skins and well done to the players for that performance. During the second half, you could tell we were out of puff and having a bench of players that could come on and match those coming off, we could have nicked that. Sadly, and we all know it, we lacked that. Or, we have players that never get a look in or regular match time. It has been an absolute joy watching us in Europe, but I do think that winning the trophy last season papered over the cracks. The last two seasons in the Premiership have at times, left me pulling my hair out. Subs coming on too late, the tactics, youth players not getting the time on the pitch, players out of position, players being moved on or put out on loan that really we could have done with last night. To top it off we sign up Phillips on a loan, who then turns out to be a total flop. So, is it all down to David Moyes and the staff around him, or should the owners take some of the responsibility? Personally, I hope we get a new manager in who can take us to the next level. We have the potential."

"Agree with many on here, fans were superb, the players gave everything, time for Moyes to go."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
Hopefully this shows Moyes / media / board what we mean when we ask for more progressive football. We didn’t win but players got clapped off.
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Leverkusen - Official Match Thread
Agree re January. Had same missed opportunity during the last europa league campaign. Same every time. If threat of going down we spend money (Ings). Chance for a trophy or high position never do anything positive in January.

We threw away Europe (this season and next) in the January transfer window. It takes a special kind of idiocy to significantly weaken your own squad. I want Sullivan out as much as Moyes this summer.

Agree about the linesman Am just inside the penalty box line at the end we defended in the second half and the lino was never in line He missed at least 4 obvious offsides a couple that were at least a couple of yards off Matched in well with Senor Cheat who was beyond belief Made 11 bookings in a game that didnt have a bad tackle & think Antonio would have to have been decapitated to get anything out of him while Leverkusen realised quickly that throwing themselves over meant an instant free kick
