VAR Disgusting
"Ruining the game be it taking too long or getting decisions badly wrong/or highly questionable at best like Coventry have been robbed of a famous last minute goal. Hope they can still win on Penalties and go through with justice being done anyway....... A fucking outrageous decision by faceless cunts in a truck somewhere in a dogging car park, no doubt."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"I don't think any true football fan can be pleased with VAR and how it is implemented. When it was first being introduced all the Sky pundits were all for it, which just lead me to believe that the people that supplied tech to Sky were the same people that were set to make a fortune from it by supplying cameras etc to the grounds. The tech isn't up to it either, the cameras are not high enough resolution, sometimes in the wrong place and don't film at a high enough frequency. Added to that, looking at incidents almost exclusively in slow motion is ridiculous. 'Clear and obvious error' means nothing. An error is an error. In one of the semi-finals a free kick was taken which brushed the arm of Grealish. The ref gave a goal-kick. VAR looked at it, saw the ball brushed his arm but didn't think it was a penalty. Fair enough, but then why wasn't a corner awarded? It is all bollocks"

Re: VAR Disgusting
"It’s hard to grumble about offsides too much with VAR. it’s very black and white provided those running it draw the lines properly and all that shit. They can refine the rules as wenger says but it’ll still happen just the same. Forwards will just go a touch sooner and still be offside or onside by a fraction. Absolute heartbreak for Cov yesterday but much as it spoiled the day there’s no denying it was the correct decision- sadly. It’s kind of crap not knowing whether to celebrate sometimes but at least it’s not so bad if they come to the right decision. It’s the ones like Villa for us earlier in the season where you feel they actively go looking for a reason to disallow a goal and micro analyse something that definitely isn’t clear and obvious, or like Sheffield United when they blatantly miss or disregard something or get it objectively and obviously wrong. The tech is objectively great but only works as well as the clowns operating it."

"Arsene Wenger's proposal is that if ANY part of your body is onside, then you are onside. Yes, it still comes down to one inch on / off, but - 1. wrong decisions feel a lot better if you are mostly offside 2. their analysis shows it will cut down offside by a large percentage anyway . ."

"I make you right there, Fifth. VAR is actually protecting Anthony Taylor here from his awful performance. I think VAR has made ref lazy in their decision-making."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"Mad Dog ""Clear and Obvious"" doesn't apply to offside decisions. For offside it's either offside or it isn't. They check every goal for offside. I agree with all those on here suggesting there needs to be leeway like with the old laws about ""level = onside"". That should come back into the laws and if you are say 8 inches ""offside"" then it's considered level."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"Alfs I appreciate your point re inconsistency. In relation to decisions that are ""50/50"" then VAR is correct not to call ref to review because VAR is only supposed to correct obvious errors when it relates to fouls. In terms of the second ""foul"", I freeze framed it at the moment Young's foot was by the ball and oppo's foot. You can't see if it is his touch that makes the ball shoot upwards or if it's the forward's touch. After that Young does definitely make contact with the forward. My guess would be it's Young's touch on the ball first and therefore not a foul. But it's inconclusive. Again, VAR did the right thing by not calling ref to review because it wasn't a clear error. So VAR did nothing wrong here. For 5050 decisions it should be left to the ref and that's what happened here."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"This whole thing with VAR and offside needs reviewing. We almost need to go back to the basic reason the offside rule was brought in. If I remember right it was originally brought to stop goal hanging. It really struck me how bananas the whole thing is on Saturday. I cant remember who it was, but I think a Man City player came back into his own half from an offside position and about 5 years into his own half was flagged for offside. How on earth can that be right? All this the player had one toe further forward than the opponent is destroying the game. It should be something as simple as is there daylight between say the head or torso of the last defender and the head or torso of the attacking player. If not the attacking player is level and therefore not offside."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Lee, ah wasn't aware. Considering all players seem to wear sports bra's these days maybe a sensor placed on the breastbone and in the middle of the back should be the two points of a players body for offside. No VAR needed, just a ping of the Referees watch."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Far, Regarding offside, yes it was fine, but it was still offside How far is ""clear and obvious"", 2 inches, 3 , 5, 10? At some point when we're drawing lines there's gonna be fine margin. If we set it at 10 inches, then we'll have complaints that it's only 10.1 inches"

"They're already changing the way offsides are done for next season, zico. They're making it more automated like the World Cup was. AKA Frankenstein's Bride. It'll still be shit."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Said before that some of the rules need changing now VAR is here because it's making a mockery of the rules as they are. Something like bringing the daylight rule back for offside. Wasn't easy for the officials to tell before but now VAR could get that right. Get back to advantage for the attacker because goals is what the sport is about. A toenail offside is silly. As for handball players prancing around with their hands behind their back leaves their arms in about as much of an un natural position as they can be! Make handball a deliberate action with hand moving ""towards"" the ball or something similar. With VAR you could pretty much tell that."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Following extensive trialling in a number of major competitions, VAR was formally written into the Laws of the Game by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) on March 3, 2018. Operating under the philosophy of ""minimal interference, maximum benefit"", the VAR system seeks to provide a way for ""clear and obvious errors"" and ""serious missed incidents"" to be corrected."

"The vast majority of people have got what they wished for. This was always how it was going to be with VAR. Comma's loving VAR, which tells you all you need to know about it."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Fifth, if that happened to us we'd be whinging like schoolgirls ON THEIR PERIODS! The third claim was def a pen, the other two fifty/fifty, depending on the ref/VAR. But that's the problem. No consistency."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"The VAR for Coventry late goal was a tad harsh, but going by the book they made the right call, by a toe or 2! shame as they deserved to win that, noticed the ManU players didn't really celebrate, expect they felt embarrassed?"
Re: VAR Disgusting
"the whole point of VAR is that it should be black and whigte in removing all doubt when handing down fair and correct decisions that align to the rules of the game (not saying it does not), but instead it seems to have opened up a whole other pandora's box of subjectiveness where referees still have licence to make decisions and there is endless debate on whether those decisions are fair and justified,"

Re: VAR Disgusting
"I've slowed down the two Forest ""foul"" penalty shouts. From the footage is is not clear that they were fouls at all. The images aren't clear if Young made contact with the ball first. Also for the first one it's unclear if there was significant contact with player even if he did touch the player. VAR was correct not to get ref to look at it because it wasn't clear or obvious error. And the handball was purely subjective. I understand Forest being annoyed at that but again VAR can't say the decision was clearly ""wrong"" so can't ask ref to look at it again. Forest were unlucky with camera angles available and are now crying like a schoolgirl who's been dumped."
Re: VAR Disgusting
It is worth bearing in mind that the overwhelming number of complaints about var are from the injured parties. As far as offsides are concerned they are more or less open and shut cases. It is the inconsistencies in application of the handball in the box and interfering with play incidents that stick in the craw.
Re: VAR Disgusting
"I kinda like what Forest have done. The standard of VAR has been shit, why should clubs not mention it? The Luton thing sounds a bit mental but doesn’t Clattenburg work for Forest now? He surely knows something."
