VAR Disgusting
"Ruining the game be it taking too long or getting decisions badly wrong/or highly questionable at best like Coventry have been robbed of a famous last minute goal. Hope they can still win on Penalties and go through with justice being done anyway....... A fucking outrageous decision by faceless cunts in a truck somewhere in a dogging car park, no doubt."
Re: VAR Disgusting
"Was surprised to see on Sunday, watching El Classico, that Spanish refs don’t yet have the aid of goal line technology. It is good because it works instantly whereas on Sunday the officials went over the var type footage again and again to determine if the whole of the ball crossed the plane of the goal line."

Re: VAR Disgusting
The only people who seem to be singing the praises of VAR are the media and VAR suppliers.
Re: VAR Disgusting
VAR is terrible for the game The decision in question was not 'shocking' it was the correct decision

Re: VAR Disgusting
"It is VAR. The decision would never have been overturned if it weren't for them deciding at the last second to meddle with a decision that was already accepted by everyone. Including the Man Utd players, manager and supporters. It's fucking horrific what's been taken away from Coventry who fully deserved their place in the Final sun and against City with another much needed huge payday coming their way. Oh yeah and the outside chance of maybe just maybe winning the thing. Imagine how we'd have felt being robbed of the last Club to win the FA Cup outside the top League cos of some faceless unaccountable truck fucking car park dogger.... People quite rightly should be in uproar if fans genuinely care about the game. VAR is killing the game be it shocking decisions when they occur like this, or completely slowing up play. Fuck it right off before it does any more damage."

Re: VAR Disgusting
It’s not the VAR as such and the technology it’s still cunting refereeing and therefore the big boys will always benefit . Take the penalty against us at Newcastle . VAR says should take a look which I think is fair enough. The ref seeing Philips back to goal trying clear and Gordon sticks his foot in front of him. How the fuck is that a penalty ???!

Re: VAR Disgusting
You could see it looked suss at the time with how close the lines were drawn together. The whole things stinks and Coventrt have been sickengly robbed of a famous win and a Cup Final place that was rightly theirs to take. 1 step closer to the game going completely...

There is a close up photo of the 2 lines drawn for giving the offside against Coventry and the blue line is going over the foot of Wan-Bissaka WTF! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13336073/VAR-Aaron-Wan-Bissaka-Man-United-FA-Cup.html&ved=2ahUKEwjNpdmPp9iFAxWTWEEAHT1mAeQQFnoECCsQAQ&usg=AOvVaw02BILloCTH4i4VNb0MeyuU

"Follow the tennis approach. Each manager has 3 appeals per match and loses one for each appeal that goes against them. Would also need to be a sanction against totally frivolous appeals to tactically interrupt the flow of play. Limit each decision to 30 seconds off pitch review followed by a possible 30 seconds of referee review. If a decision cannot be made in that timeframe, decision is so marginal that the original decision stands."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"I think that VAR is trying to impose digital (Championship Manager style) rules onto a very analogue (real life) game. Refs fucking up every now and again (for whatever reason) was part & parcel of the game I grew up watching. Now it just seems that another layer of fuckitupaboutary has been added, solely to give the media something else to hang sponsors adverts off of."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"That is good Branded. I've been saying for ages, that when off side is that close the deciding factor is when the guy says the ball was kicked. Go back or forward a millisecond and it is a different decision. That just cannot be right. When it is that close stay with the on field decision. I would definitely get rid of VAR. Main reas are it is too often plainly wrong and it ruins goal celebrations and therefore the game. However, from what that guys says, I consider that real time off side VAR decisions, which are definitely not beyond our technology, would remove a hugh bad part of VAR with the waiting and then disallowed goals that everyone just celebrated."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"Brilliant bit of writing on VAR https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1782131160224518633.html?utm_campaign=topunroll#google_vignette 1 - I am not convinced it was the right decision - I am not convinced the technology & frame rates of the cameras are good enough to make these very fine calls. 2 - even if it was the right decision, under the pre-VAR interpretation of offside (which incidentally, Coventry City have been playing with all year in the Championship), it would have been less likely to have been given as offside. 3 - even if it was the right decision, we have made a trade-off to get that accuracy - speed. In this case, that's meant letting play run on for several seconds after the infringement and several seconds after the 'goal', moments when every fan and player thought it was a goal. If that decision had been made instantly at the time of infringement, then right or wrong, people would not be that exercised by it. It's the delay that causes so many of the problems. The Coventry fans and players are going to have get used to what fans of PL teams have had to get used to - that you can't really celebrate a goal the way you did in the past. The in-the-moment spontaneity of a celebration has gone. This is a wider trend in football, as we've seen with the points deductions for Everton & Forest, and the revision of the points deduction for Everton, and the constant delay of the cases against Man City. It's not just about performance on the pitch, but litigation off it. Football is essentially becoming post-modern, with every decision being contested, litigated, reviewed and revised."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"Jimmy Walker our ex goalkeeper wrote about Bruno Fernandes: And his antics did not go down with former West Ham goalkeeper Jimmy Walker, 50. Walker, who played 20 games for West Ham, took to X to denounce the United star. He wrote: “If I’m Cov gk I’m finding this rat down the tunnel #bigtimep**ck” His critical post was accompanied by a photo of Fernandes doing a post-match interview after the final. A confused fan asked Walker if it’s because the United player “stood up for himself”. Walker quoted that post and responded: “No coz he’s a c***.” West Ham fans loved the outburst with one replying: “Jimmy Walker for West Ham manager.” Another said: “Walker well and truly on the money with that one.”"

Re: VAR Disgusting
"Although ""clear and obvious,"" doesn't apply to offside line decisions, VAR was sold to me, on the basis it would just be used to stop the huge rickets, such as the ""Hand Of God,"" or Henry's handball against the Irish, in a World Cup qualifier play off. As every goal is automatically reviewed for offside, then, you will always get the millimetre offside decisions. The involvement of VAR (assuming it won't be binned, which I would prefer), should be minimal. Instead of goals being automatically reviewed for offside and what ever else VAR gets involved in, it should be a challenge system. One per team, per game, kept if challenge successful. Challenge to be made within 15 seconds, from when there is next a break in play (so straight after a goal, or whenever practical). Quite often, you can tell by players reactions, when the ref has made a mistake. Those sort of incidents would be challenged. Of course, if you have the challenge left, a team could take a punt on a review, very late in a game. For example, Ing's late goal disallowed against Villa. The Villa players weren't running up to the ref after the goal claiming offside, but could have used their review, if it was available. A ref should be able to ask VAR to make a decision, if he's seen something, but not sure what. Similar to how a cricket umpire, asks the 3rd umpire to adjudicate on run outs, stumpings and other stuff."

Re: VAR Disgusting
"People keep banging on about this and don't seem to want to understand it. With offside, there is not, nor ever has been, a 'clear and obvious' condition. It's a line decision - it's either offside or it's not. And you can change the criteria all you want, 'clear daylight' 'part of body able to score', 'margin of error', 'ref's call' or whatever. In the end there will always be a marginal line decision that means it's on or offside."

"Watched a fair bit of the Forest game and can understand their frustration in thinking others would have got most if not all of those pens My take : Pen 1 - Not violent but its an obvious kick through the back of the foot and would be expected to be given by VAR if the ref has missed it Pen 2 - Not quite as blatant as Kilmans outstretched arm against us but still away from the body and would expect to see it given Pen 3 - Taylor from behind thinks the ball has been taken. Possibly understandable but for VAR to look at it , see he didnt get the ball at all and say nothing is extraordinary Great work for LUTON all around!"

This made me laugh. Forest thanking VAR for getting them promoted in the play offs. https://twitter.com/missyellisx/status/1782329931340423464
