Proposed Premier League Salary Cap
"Haven't dug into great detail but understand the clubs (16 for , 3 against, 1 to decide later) have voted for it and it would replace the sustainability rules if confirmed at the AGM My understanding is that they take a multiple (probably 5) of the broadcast revenue of the lowest club. Examples quote Southampton receiving approx £100m so probably a maximum pf £500m on wages, amortised transfer fees & agent payments. Man City & Chelsea voted against as they are close to that figure. Am guessing the levelling up would come for teams like Newcastle whose owners who have money but are being restricted from spending it. Good idea to eventually even up the Premier league at least to some extent?"
Re: Proposed Premier League Salary Cap
With the majority of Yank ownership in the league. Once the Super League was kicked into touch. This was the price of doing business. Most won’t like it. But long term. It probably the best West Ham could get.?

Re: Proposed Premier League Salary Cap
I guess the PL think they need to have some restriction to protect clubs from themselves but never understood how you could call something Financial FAIR Play where clubs have different allowed wage levels

Re: Proposed Premier League Salary Cap
Are many PL clubs close to the estimated £500m? Understand its only City and Chelsea Presume it will mean more players will come as say Newcastle can maybe double what they are paying currently We could pay more ... but dont tell Sullivan

"It's a ridiculous idea. Just let clubs do what they want. If they're stupid enough to put themselves out of business, then so be it."

Re: Proposed Premier League Salary Cap
"Top class players won't sign for PL teams if other leagues are not capping as well. You only have to look at Rugby Union, players leaving England in droves to play in France where they are paid more."
