"They can keep Walker-Peters, but I'd swap Hardwood-Bellis for Downes. Not that they would agree to that I don't think."

Re: Championship Playoffs
A step up in quality on the departing Phillips in the Squad too without even spending a penny. Massive bullet dodged.

Re: Championship Playoffs
"Apparently so, Exile. Hopefully we don't let him leave, unless they offer a silly offer for him. We paid £12M for him when at Swansea, so if they want him, it's got to be a few bob more than that with how important he is to their side and the way they play all season."
Re: Championship Playoffs
"Downes is the lynchpin in midfield for Southampton. Always avaiable, plays 1 or 2 touch and keeps it simple. But also glides forward now and then. Good strong tackles and quick pressing interceptions. Deserves his chance in a passing team and might allow the more skillful Alvarez to carry the ball and get forward more. Its faster and easier to get booked in the Prem but he needs a chance in his favoured position. Good squad addition but might have to accept he wont be playing 90 mins every week like at Southampton."

"Thought it was a game low on quality, Leeds were awful, wouldn't be at all surprised if Farckner, fuckner, whatever it is, is sacked, complete failure. Wtf was Dustin Hoffman doing there?"

Re: Championship Playoffs
"Can't claim to have seen much else of them this season, but after seeing the Leeds forwards who everyone seems to rate, I wouldn't take any of them, thought they were all pony. As for Adam Armstrong, hahaha. Thankfully we'll be aiming for better than that."

Re: Championship Playoffs
"Hmm, not so sure about Armstrong in the Premier League. For 2 seasons with Southampton in the Prem he failed badly. He strikes me more of a quality Championship player but maybe he's learnt from his time in the Prem before. I wouldn't be keen to go for him now, we should be setting our sights higher for a new Striker."

Re: Championship Playoffs
Downes having a good game. Take him back and keep him. Adam Armstrong is too good for Saints too. We could do with Leeds nicking this and getting him in sharpish.

"Downes playing well. Lovely 1st time pass to start the move off for the goal and mopping up defensively just stopping a 4 on 1 breakaway. Never understood loaning him out this season, he's a Premier League player."

Re: Championship Playoffs
"Interesting stat from the bbc on Southampton and indeed Downes thriving as a player…. “Including the play-offs, Southampton have averaged the highest share of possession (66%) across England’s top four tiers this season. Another great stat is that only Manchester City (691 and 24) have recorded more passes and more sequences of 10+ passes per game than the Saints (663 and 22) in 2023-24” Right up Loppy’s street no?"

"Apart from out and out greed and thinking of new ways to fleece the fans, can anyone give a reason why Southampton aren't playing in red and white?"
