"So not only does Scamacca in his debut season help win the Europa League Trophy with Atalanta, he also helps little old Atalanta get Champions League Football next season via the League finishing no lower than 4th, still a chance to leapfrog Juventus in to 3rd when they play their final game. Top fucking management that, you really played a blinder with this one.... https://youtu.be/XUJEVQ0M_RE?si=KvIsVbTLYCrWhnx0 On the same weekend Downes also helps promote Southampton in style at the 1st time of asking and Benrahma plays in a Cup Final against PSG after helping them get to the Final as well as 6th in their League from being 10th when he went there, Kehrer Monaco get 2nd and Fornals Real Betis in to 7th. Moyes was one player killing, Squad asset stripping cսnt."

Agree Scorch and to add to that he was then told by his converted striker teammate he had to except he wasn’t good at fighting for ‘scraps’ that tells you our football was shit…..

Moyes' treatment of Scamacca really pissed me off. Just didn't give the bloke a chance. Not that we even tried to play to his strengths. It was clear from the start he didn't want the player and just didn't play him out of principle rather than actually trying to integrate him.

"Ludo - I don't see it that way, I do think he would have been more cautious.. But I would have expected us to be closer or even level for the second leg... Then we would have had to do more than we did at theirs meaning we would have played for more than half the tie... We may still have lost but would have done so without deciding to go there and just limit then... Qarabag and Roma both scored twice there when forced to.. We were just pathetic.."

"Fraser 11:41 Thu May 23 Being at home for the first leg would have been even worse... no way would Moyes have gone at them like we did in the 2nd leg at home, Moyes is far too cautious to have done that. He couldn't even go at Bristol City in an FA cup tie FFS."

All Atalanta really did is make Leverkusen worry about them and it worked…..it’s better known as going for it…..something our EX manager could never have as a concept unless we were chasing the result from a losing position….and even then it was rare…

"always had a soft spot for Atalanta, a bit like us they live in the shadow of some more illustrious neighbours. every child born in Bergamo is given a scarf/shirt to try and capture their support instead of the Milan clubs. completely agree with the below - we totally misjudged the away leg in Leverkusen."

Fraser - If we faced that Atalanta side last night pressing us like fuck and that brave attacking line-up for 90 mins it would have ended up a cricket score. Not a chance we'd have beaten them.

"I'm with Moyes on that one, always prefer 2nd leg at Home. We also showed we fucked up playing at Home 1st when we faced Frankfurt in the Europa."

"fraser - Yea an interesting take that, the tie would certainly have had a different dynamic about it, fwiw though Moyes was on record saying he much prefers the second legs at home, which he got."

"Yeah they did what we did in the first half against them, but we couldn't sustain it due to poor squad management. I actually would have preferred to play at home against them first because we were always going to be passive away in a first leg. Both Roma and Qarabag caused them problems when having to, we would have done the same. Not sure I would have fancied a final against Atalanta though, fair play 3 against both tournament favourites"

"It's not quite that simple though, is it? You may have heard that Leverkusen have been quite hard to beat this season. They didn't look all that against us, but they've obviously got something about them that makes them very difficult to beat."

"And the fact they achieved it with Scamacca at the heart of their Teams Europa League campaign angers me like fuck. And divs fell for it, it was the player, not Moyes.... The Player Killer strikes again and caused us severe self-harm. cսnt!"

Push our team 30yds up the pitch with Bowen & Kudus either side then Scamacca (or Haller) would be fine Wrong system for ANY centre forward

"Yeh a bit of a what if final that. Just shows you can score against Leverkusen if you attack them. Who knows had we not surrendered the first leg. Sure, Roma would have been tough, and likewise Atalanta but be nice to have given it a shot. Secondly, Scamacca is clearly a very good centre forward. I thought it when he was here, but such is Moyes inability to utilise one, we’ve lost another good forward."

That Scalvini lad is frightening. I'd happily pay £50M for the Centre Half now just to get him in and cement 1 of our defensive holes up good and proper.

"Lookman and Scamacca have terrorised Leverkusens defence all game. This'll be Scamaccas 2nd European Title in 2 years. What the fuck were we thinking getting rid of him as soon as we got him. Well done West Ham, finally get a beast up top and we fuck it royally up."

Lookman’s had the night of his life. But this just shows what could have been done if we hadn’t had such a craven manager

I always said we should have signed Lookman. He could play all along the frontline but more importantly would have been the left sided attacker we needed. He only cost about £20m too
