"Russ of the BML 1:04 Thu May 23 I’m not talking about how he comes across in the media. He presented to the England rugby team and I know through various means that to a man that were all extremely impressed by his methodology and ideas. He might not be for everyone, but from professional sports people, it seems they find him impressive, and if he has aced the Bayern meeting, clearly he interviews well in the environment too."

Russ of the BML 1:04 Thu May 23 He'll be working with some of the best players in Europe rather than the dross he had at Burnley. He could prove to be a success at Bayern.

"No doubt he be on most people’s managerial list when he Bomb’s Out of Bayern.? Like Vinnie. As player. As a manager. And as a regular Joe. Very, very few would have turned their nose’s up here if we had gone that route. ( Yeah. Yeah. It’s Bayern Bollocks.!) Good Luck to him."

"Ron Eff 11:24 Thu May 23 I disagree. This season whenever I have seen him interviewed (usually after another defeat) he has come across as a mardy bullshitter that is rather self-obsessed. Him nor his teams performances have been nowhere near impressive, in my opinion. I understand your point about managers and coaches staying true to their principles and philosophy. However, there does come a point where, at the very least, a small adaptation has to be considered and implemented to combat a certain set of circumstances. And i would suggest that, at one point during the season, Kompany should've reduced the amount that Burnley attempted to play out from the back. In training they should've looked at all scenario's and worked out when to do this and when to not. Because some of the goals they conceded this season by trying to play out from the back have been, quite frankly, comical and bordering insane. On MOTD, Shearer went through a dozen goals, where they tippy tapped it about in their own box, trying to be clever and play it out on the floor and got caught out. When all they needed to do was not boot it into row Z, but just clip it into space on halfway line and let the strikers do some work. And to continue to do this week after week after week with the same negative result is actually the definition of insanity. And people can dress it up as much as they like and call it brave, principled and modern. But, at the end of the day, its actually just stubborn stupidity. But as you say, it will work better with Bayern's squad as they are significantly better players. But, for me, Kompany doesn't much credit for what he did with Burnley this season because he failed. End of."

"By all accounts, he is extremely impressive. Yes, maybe he should have changed styles for the Premier League, but how hypocritical of us to say that he should abandon his attempt to play expansive, attractive attacking football despite limited players when the majority of us (me included) were calling for Moyes to do the opposite and ditch his bland, negative shit in exchange for a better brand of football. I say fair play for sticking to those principles. Clearly it will work better with Bayern’s squad than Burnley’s. Good luck to him."

"Yep, clubs seem to be going that way now and probably a good thing, head coach instead of manager and shorter contracts in many cases."

Seems with Kompany & the likes of McKenna big clubs seem to be considering managers with little track record Maybe in a way thats better than recycling the same old names

"He's revered and highly respected within the game as a serious pro and a true leader, Pep's captain for many years etc. and that cuts him some slack, or so it seems, a bit like what Roy Keane also gets. I suppose the jury is still out on him as a manager, there were a few on here that said they would have taken him."

Sheff Utd sold their best 2 players after promotion so were always shit Luton with minimal resources had a go when everyone expected them to be down by Christmas Burnley got promoted with some loan players they couldn’t keep but apart from a few games at the end they were awful and went down without a whimper Kompany is a media favourite & seemed to get a free ride & avoid any criticism Not sure what a team at the level of Bayern see in him. They have been rejected by quite a few others though.

"Strikes me as a bit of a strange character, but an extremely dedicated pro and clearly very much a leader. Apparently Burnley were due back for pre-season on June 6th. Looks like this will happen, so another opportunity for Moyes."

"Fucking awful manager, refused to change the way Burnley played and got them relegated. Every after game interview he appeared more interested in himself than his team or results. A fucking dickhead. Bayern must be fucking desperate."
