Holidays this year - where ya going
"I think after the back and forth of France for past few years, I am thinking of going West to Central or South America. PanamaHat be warned hahaha but I am also considering Belize or Argentina. Where are you all going......... On a side note, if anyone is planning on booking big on Easy jet in next 2 weeks, hold fire and DM me as I have a large voucher which is transferable and I can save you a couple of hundred quid on your flights"
Re: Holidays this year - where ya going
"Not really. You can get the ferry to Capri from positano for a day trip, but Capri is small and super busy. The big cruise ships can’t drop off in Positano but they can in Sorrento so it’s more touristy. Positano is simply stunning."

"ludo21 -try sailing via Red Funnel from Southampton...Usually a lot cheaper -the sailing from Lymington is lovely admiitedly - a nice drive through the forest..when booking via Wight Link, have a look at the 'deals' pull down at the top"

Wils - definitely worth a trip. I think they have uncovered quite a bit more since I last went. My children are a lot older (youngest is 16) and want to go. If it's a very hot day then I would suggest you don't try and see it all with your six year old as could be too much... just spend a couple of hours there. We were pretty much left to our own devices to wander around and I don't remember there being anywhere to get food / drinks though that has probably changed but take plenty of water!

"ludo21 ""Went to Pompei 30 years ago but will go again with the kids."" I have never been. Presuming that you are going back its worth the effort. My youngest is 6, think she will get much out of it?"

"Went to Marrakech in March, back yesterday from a mini cruise. Nothing else planned as yet as looking to move later in the year, once that has been done probably the ubiquitous trip to Innsbruck as the Mrs is Austrian"
Re: Holidays this year - where ya going
Going to Amalfi Coast. Went to Pompei 30 years ago but will go again with the kids. While they are lying in the sun I intend to spend a couple of days following in the footsteps of my Grandad in 1943/4. I have got a copy of his units War Diary so will visit some of the places and pay my respects at Minturno Cemetary.

"goose wrote... ""whereabouts?"" Whereabouts in Sicily? We are renting a flat in Palermo and taking trips up to Mondello, Cefalu, Monreale etc. But Flying into Rome to see the sights there and making our way down to Naples Pompei and maybe Sorrento before taking the ferry to Palermo."

"Kefalonia in June, it’ll be nice to visit the place I used to stare out of my old living room window and see across the Ionian."
Re: Holidays this year - where ya going
Aalborg - was planning a trip to IOW and just checked the ferry prices... you're right they're extortionate. £410 for a return with a car (for a 22 minute crossing from Lymington) but the amazing thing is they all seem to be booked out a month in advance. Crazy!

Isle of Wight last week - just like stepping back 30 years -shame about the atrocious ferry fares - the most expensive in the world mile for mile - it's strangling the island's businesses - we're returning in October but only because we got ferry vouchers. Off for a week's fishing in Norfolk in July - looking forward to it
