Best performance you can remember
Best performance you can remember
So I’m sure we all remember the performance Gerard had against us in the Cup final or Paolo Rossi’s performance in the World Cup when he scored a hat trick and Mario Kempes for Argentina in the 78 World Cup. Whose performance over the years stands out to you?

"only1billybonds 4:20 Sat Jun 1 I agree with the Tblisi game they were magnificent. The following game on Saturday there was a message from their players thanking us for the reception they were given as we applauded off the pitch. I remember sayng to my brother that we were being given a lesson here, and some bloke behind me said ""Well if you don't like it fuck off."" I bet he's a WHOer."

Re: Best performance you can remember
In west ham terms . The 4 0 away win against Chelsea in 86 takes some beating. Were absolutely outstanding all game . Ive always rated the late 80s early 90s AC Milan side as the best I've seen . The performance against Barcelona in the 94 European cup final was ridiculously good. Gullit. van basten rijkjarrd maldini baresi ancelotti conte . What a side .

"Brooking against Eintracht Frankfurt was a classic. Lots of Julian's games in a fairly poor team, especially a win against Spurs where I think he won the Player of the Match on Sky by a bigger margin than anybody else up to that time. And quite a few of Payet's performances were sublime."

Re: Best performance you can remember
The sheer class of Bobby Moore in the 70 world cup after his arrest in Colombia. Also in the '66 world cup final when everybody was encouraging him to blast it out of play he calmly hit a pinpoint pass to Geoff Hurst to score the fourth goal. Jack Charlton said how much in awe he was of him when paying tribute to him after he died. Also agree with Arsene regarding Johnny Byrne ripping the powerful Leeds team a new one when they beat them 7-0 at Upton Park. Norman Hunter said years after whatever team Leeds had put out the result would have been the same as Byrne was brilliant that night.
Re: Best performance you can remember
If anyone ever says West Ham DIDN’T win the 66 World Cup: Moore’s wonderful free kick for Hurst’s equalising header. Peters’ second goal for England after a Hurst shot had been blocked. England’s third goal from Hurst’s dynamic shot on the turn striking the underside of the bar and over the line( according to the linesman). Man of the match Moore’s magnificent long range through ball for Hurst to smash in his hat trick goal for a 4-2 Engerland win! THEY THINK IT’S ALL OVER IT IS NOW!!

"Apart from the obvious, my stand out performance for the Fountain pub in Welwyn Garden City against the British Lead Mills, 1974. I would have to say Bobby for England against Brazil 1970. I watched that again recently and. fuck me, he was masterful."

Team performance: West Ham 7 - 0 Leeds United 1966 Johnny Byrne was peerless that night
Re: Best performance you can remember
"I remember seeing Payet play a pre season friendly at Norwich. I knew nothing about him at all, but by the end of that game I was thinking, 'Who the fuck is this guy, and how did we manage to get hold of him?' What a debut! That season, he didn't let me down, either."

Re: Best performance you can remember
"Agree with all that say Devonshire, only a left footer could be so masterful…..others….. Billic turned in some of the most sturdy performances I’d ever seen for a defender in a West Ham shirt, totally bossed it at the back for us and from his first game. Gascogne for England was also a master of his trade for England…..got a feeling Bellingham will do something similar for England."
Re: Best performance you can remember
"Agree with Devonshire, what a player and too many great individual performances to mention but a stand out was Brooking on that sodden night against Eintracht Frankfurt where most could hardly stand up but Trevor was sublime."

Re: Best performance you can remember
"Individual performance against us was probably Yaya Toure or Ruud Gullit. I think Toure scored one with his left foot that day, but overall he was just so good. Team? Maybe Real Madrid at Old Trafford when the original Ronaldo got 3. Barca destroying Man Utd in the CL final? Maybe Manchester United at Arsenal in the champions league, they scored a breakaway goal from one end to the other in about 10 seconds."

"Bit random but... https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/30-march/day-hartson-abou-and-pearce-stun-form-leeds-united This game, Ian Pierce seemed to have transformed into Pele, was surreal For a big lump of a defender he was all over the pitch doing allsorts Fantastic game and every time he touched the ball the ground roared, never seen anything like it since"
