Anxiety/depression

Post Tomshardware »

"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?

"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

"Alf, what meds you on mate? That feeling of dread is an absolute cսnt, especially when you can't work out why it's appeared. Something I did was write down what activities I was doing prior to feeling like that to work out if there were any triggers, I then noticed a strange pattern of minor things which sparked that feeling."

"The word anxiety is used pretty broadly (again a bit like flu when people have a bad cold). There is clinical anxiety which can be diagnosed and treated (much like proper depression), and day to day anxiety that comes and goes and most people will experience to a greater or lesser degree. Worry is probably a better word for this to help separate the two. Again there is a scale that clinicians often use to diagnose clinical anxiety that gives a good indication as to whether it needs treatment or not. https://dcf.psychiatry.ufl.edu/files/2011/05/HAMILTON-ANXIETY.pdf"

"Depression and anxiety are heavily linked, WD. Being fed up with your life every single day is certainly depression. Relationship problems can cause depression - though I have no idea as to which post you're referring to. Depression is one of those things that you don't truly understand until you've been affected by it"

"I've found myself getting over-anxious when I arrive at my desk and open my workstream. Even though I'm presently working in sales my MD gives me very little pressure, is pleased with my performance and I'm making very good money - but I get this feeling of dread every day. Yet I quite enjoy the job on some levels. I'm already on ADs. Maybe I need to change my meds?"

"White Pony 12:27 Fri Jan 17 Maybe. Always happy to help. That said, in all honesty, if being exciting to people on a football forum is any part of your self-worth, the thread is more likely to apply to you. And comparing yourself to others, even in terms of how boring you are compared to them, is not great mental heath practice. Do you thinking you are more exciting than me because you feel need to talk about me? Something a little strange there."

"Dan M 11:41 Thu Jan 16 Tron guy? New one to me. I responded to posts, like you responded to mine, mate. Surely that make us equality sensitive. Though to be fair, you are the one worried about what other posters are doing rather than just responding to the flow of the thread. I would not worry so much about me."

"Dan M 6:03 Thu Jan 16 I was responding to posters Dan, like yourself, the conversation was about rowing for some reason. Sorry it bothers you. I would think a good mental health tip would be to not respond to things you find boring, thereby perpetuating them."

"Yes. I experienced some very dark events in 2014-15 that led me on a downward spiral. It is quite easy (with help) to drag your way out of this to a bright future. Fair play to you for showing some balls and putting this out there, great first move. For me professional advice set me straight, not saying it will work for you but at least give it a shot. The quicker you act the easier it is."

I sometimes wonder how much money I'd have to be offered to do a base jump. As yet I haven't been able to think of a sum large enough.
