Anxiety/depression
"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?
"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

"Good to see you're still around norman. Hadn't had one of your little rants on here for a while, so was worried that you'd succumbed to anxiety or depression."

"Debs - has your daughter considered yoga? It’s a good way to get a bit fit, feel good about oneself and control anxiety. There’s loads of classes on YouTube"
Re: Anxiety/depression
"goose 9:18 Mon Mar 2 Re: Anxiety/depression Agreed, my experience has found that the whole focus on mental health in the media and workplace is having the opposite effect. When I’ve been open about the practical issues caused by my own wonky brain people just roll their eyes and go blah blah blah, mental health bandwagon etc. The thing is there is a difference between wanting sympathy and wanting to take positive and practical steps to overcome issues caused by wonky brains. Nowadays though not you mention anything everyone just labels you as some kind of self pitying attention seeker."

"goose 9:18 Mon Mar 2 Indeed, it appears people are ""coming out"" with their mental health illnesses like gay people do when they come out. All a bit cringe worthy."

"HTTP-5 is pretty good too for a St. John's Wort alternative. May i also suggest the Samaritans freephone 116 123. it's free, 100% confidential. I'm one of them. a listening volunteer doing a shift each week. It can and does help."
Re: Anxiety/depression
"I tried St Johns Wort for a while. It worked at first but not so much later. The German's swear by it though. With herbal remedies the purity is important. Oxsaw, I smoke quite a bit of weed as it does help with depression and can help to focus, so with that and SJW I'm not surprised that they were feeling good."

Boycie 12:53 Mon Mar 2 I had other issues but the prospect of full winter did not help and hours on nights basically living in dark. The first full winter since 2002
Re: Anxiety/depression
Linda Robson throwing herself on the mental health bandwagon this weekend. It’s become the go-to position for any celebrity craving some attention. I fear that their desperate need to be in the papers will cheapen the problems of those who really need help.

Re: Anxiety/depression
dont know if its been mentioned but Seasonal Affective disorder is a syndrome that kicks in with winter months and reduced exposure to daylight. Leads to depression and can be mitigated by using a certain type of lamp.
Re: Anxiety/depression
"Ray Winston ( I think ), Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig, Thank you, read in one sitting. Could relate to his experiences. Non patronising, good information, Only self help book I have bought, outside of NLP. Recommend to all those who know someone with anxiety, despite title it is not all about suicide, more so panic, anxiety, depression. Even if you do not suffer it is a good read to understand your loved ones with depression better. Its good to talk (type). Lavender under the pillow at Night is calming and supposed to aid sleep and anxiety."

"At the risk of sounding even more Walter Mitty than before, before I met my second wife I was involved in running a Herbal distribution company. My 2 partners swore by St. Johns Wort. But I never gave it much credence because they were always stoned. It was very popular with a lot of other people, though, so I guess it had a use."

"Debs - I also tried St.Johns Wort and didnt really notice any difference, though my brother said he did. When really down I take a similar thing called 5-HTP and I do believe it helps, well, me anyway."
