Anxiety/depression
"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?
"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

"The Mercenary - sorry, I missed your posts further down. That’s horrible news, you have my sincere condolences. I hope you have a good group of people round you, and, if not, I’m available to talk any time"
Re: Anxiety/depression
"Hermit Road 8:39 Thu Mar 19 This x1000 I don’t watch or read the news anymore, other than the sports pages, which is pointless at the mo, and the 5pm briefings at present. I’m very selective with what I follow and look at on social media. Now I’m working from home I run round the block in the morning and then run the other way round it in the evening to give me a getting to/from work routine (and ‘the block’ is fucking massive, so shows me how unfit I am) I make sure I try and talk to my parents and/or sister, nieces and nephews every day Neighbours on one side are in their early 70’s and I’m doing bits and pieces for them (curiously, mainly technology based). I’ve enjoyed photography lately and intend to do a class once they’re all up and running again, as well as whisky tasting - although that could (well, has) become a very expensive hobby. All in all I’m feeling happy and positive, despite the forthcoming zombie apocalypse - so much so that I’m starting the withdrawal process from the tablets I’m on"

"Thanks Bungo. Brought her home today. All very surreal and the corona virus situation is making it even more so! There are definitely some very caring people out there who genuinely want to help, which is one bright spot."

"Do yourself a favour if you are prone to mental health problems. Stay the fuck off social media and stay away from the 'news'. They arent helpful at the best if times but right now, they could be deadly. Watch some funny programmes and good films. Do a bit of exercise every day. Ring people up and most importantly, try to help someone."

"Haha, no soldier of fortune Peckham, it's just a play on my name! Also, no kids so at least they've been spared. Having said that we do have close nieces and nephews who've been devastated. We also lost both our fathers within 6 months of each other in 2016, so the last few years have been very testing."

Re: Anxiety/depression
Thanks guys. Never thought I’d be one who’d talk about emotional things but it’s definitely helping.
Re: Anxiety/depression
"The Mercernary, my sincerest condolences. I only had a breakdown due to Divorce, god knows how I could have coped in your circumstances. WHO is the perfect outlet for mundane shit to distract you from alot. The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom (Paperback, 2004), I read after my Fathers suicide. It is not religious and really comforted me. At least you have the West Ham family out of your inner circle to speak too. Godbless"

Re: Anxiety/depression
Right I'm jumping into this thread with both feet... Trying not to fall off the precipice after the worst possible year - have to collect my 50-year old wife's ashes tomorrow and being forced to work from home at the worst possible time to be honest. Funeral was last week and I've been acutely aware for a while that this week was going to be a tough one. So it's proving! Thank god for social media and Whatsapp to keep in touch/keep sane!

Re: Anxiety/depression
"Having had a nightmare with conflicting meds that gave me cramp in my legs that would not go away, I google every med I take for conflicts"
Re: Anxiety/depression
"Oh god I can't remember the last one my GP gave me but it was a common one and had nausea, lack of appetite whole range of side effects which is odd because I'm on plenty of meds and cope with them. I'll probably just plough through without them. Don't think happy pills will work in the current climate anyway!! On a positive note since coming off the meds the RLS seems to have stopped!"

Re: Anxiety/depression
"I get bad circulation and restless legs due to meds. For those in the Mental know, done through the Army a full on lengthy psychological testing last year. GAD/7 Scored 21 PHQ/9 Scored 27 PTSD - DSM-5 Scored 66 Boring but true. However, The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry by Jon Ronson is a brilliant read about the mind. Excellent book."

Re: Anxiety/depression
Restless legs can be a side effect. Try some hypnotherapy on YouTube Michael Seally or 8 hour guided sleep hypnosis
Re: Anxiety/depression
"Well to lift the mood the Doc put me on some pills a few weeks ago but all they did was ruin the appetite and give dreadful heartburn! Tried some mirtazapine and haven't slept in two nights due to bloody restless leg syndrome which is an absolute bastard, one weird bloody sensation! So coming off those buggers. Can only be the pills I assume. Any others on meds with dodgy side effects?"
