Anxiety/depression

Post Tomshardware »

"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?

"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

"Westham67 Don't know that form I don't think but few years ago I couldn't work for a while due to bilateral testicular hypofunction. Claimed ESA but eventually got shafted by the assessment process, which is another long winded and boring story. However the reason why I mention it is the Citizens Advice Bureau were absolutely brilliant in helping me complete the form. They have a specialist who knows exactly what to put down so give your local branch a call. When I did it they invited me in for an appointment and they complete it whilst you are there."

"MPI Indeed he should be, we all need something from time to time. I'm lucky that I have generally been able to bounce back from being low but I was concerned last few days because I wasn't. But I picked up the phone to friends and family and plonked that on here and was really appreciative of the support and have somewhat bounced back a bit. Just needed a bit of a kick start so really appreciate it gents. May I just add that if anyone needs a chat or some help please just whomail me and I'll be glad to help if I can."

"Thanks for the messages guys, have whomailed a few of you back. Had a long chat with my sister and a mate last night and we are all going through it at the moment and I'll be fine. Not worth worrying about that appointment until the appointment. Never worth worrying about something until it happens. Christmas on my own is absolutely fine though, done it since mum went into care and not having to watch the ladies soaps is a joy!! Just had a downer but you guys have helped pick me up so I appreciate that. There are many far worse off than I, I'm lucky I own my home so will always have a roof over my head. Bruno, I don't watch the news, as you say it's far too depressing, I might stop watching West Ham as it's as bad!! ;-) Thanks again guys."

"Zico, That's a lot of plates spinning for one man without an outlet to discuss, assess or even to distract him so you have nothing to apologise for fella, in fact grateful for you reaching out. Same as Pents really can you WHOmail myself or Farley and let us know where you live, what your current plans are for Christmas and what might be possible in terms of family and/or friend visits."

"Best of wishes Ted, hope things turn out ok. I've got a bit of a nervy wait until end of January. Had a small scab on the crown of my head since last December that comes off then reoccurs. In 2021 I had a mole removed from my back which I didn't actually go in for, but which thankfully turned out to be a dysplastic nevus, but since then have become a bit more aware of my skin especially as in your 50's you start getting liver/age spots and the like. Seen three GPs with two different diagnoses' with none sending me to a dermatologist, preferring to try various creams. Finally pushed again and a dermatologist asked me to send a picture to this app called MySkinDoctor. Not easy taking photos of the top of your head! Get a text message through last week with a link to click. First thing that comes up under results was.... ""Disgnosis - Basal Cell Carcinoma"" After gazing at it for a couple of minutes I read the letter they sent to the GP. There it states ""Diagnosis: Suspected Actinic Keratosis crown to exclude Basal Cell Carcinoma"" and with a face-to-face appt on 20th January. Regardless I suspect they will cut it out anyway for biopsy but there ain't much skin on the top of your head so no idea what they do! I know Hugh Jackman the actor has had a few3 of thee removed from his nose and from what I have read if your are going to get skin cancer this is the one to have but worrying all the same. Odd thing is that part of me is generally covered with a cap when working outside or on the golf course. Never really been one to get down but along with everyone else suffering in this cost-of-living crisis I'm fed up with wearing a coat indoors because I'm afraid to put the heating on and fed up that for the last year all my wages go on bills and food shopping, that's it. Feels like existing not living with no light at the end of the tunnel with April and another energy rise, and our council look like they are putting Council Tax up 8%. Thankfully I live alone (such a Scrooge so not a surprise) and no kids so cancelling Christmas doesn't affect anyone, but mum has been in care since 2019 with dementia and this is the sort of shit I used to talk to her about. Always just brushed it off before and always bounced back from a low spell but it's getting more difficult these days. Sorry for the ramble."

"If I can add my best wishes for good luck on 3 Jan, then I do so. To be honest, every time there's a new post on this thread I open it with not a little trepidation, but more recently the mood had been more upbeat. For those still suffering (in silence, it would seem, for which they may well have a very valid not-for-me-to-judge reason) I hope things are also moving in a more positive direction."
