"Not so sure I agree with the religion aspect - well not fully. I can still picture the scene when I first started to question the bible stories being read to me in Sunday School - I'd not even turned 10 (so only a week or so ago, really). Luckily I was able to make much use of the local library, especially as my queries at Sunday School were simply brushed aside. As far as I'm aware, this left me not with a vacuum or empty space in my life that had to be filled with absolutes, but a healthy cynicism that both allowed me to challenge everything put before me and accept that I didn't actually need to know everything for certain all the time. Obviously that light didn't flick on in many people, and they may be searching for the absolute ""answers"" religion once supplied them, and they may feel that politicians/scientists/government/the EU provide those - or at least acceptable facsimiles."
