Apart from taking the holiday & letting off some fireworks I dont think people in Western Australia are that bothered about a day that is essentially a NSW day. The first Monday in June in WA celebrates the founding of the Swan River colony in 1829. It used to be called Foundation Day but was changed to Western Australia Day in 2012 to include everyone. Noone died when that change was made.
