Woke watch
"There is a very good section on GB news where the ludicrous idiocies of Wokeness are looked at I thought we would should have one for WHO. I'll start with Baptiste on BBC: In Hungary,an ambassador's family are kidnapped by Islamic terrorists and carry out atrocities. At the end of the last episode Baptiste finds out that it is a false flag operation and conveniently, the real culprits are white supremacists who want to stop all immigration. Coronation Street ITV a gay black footballer is stopped by the police, because he is driving an expensive car. He is pushed to the ground during an altercation, and damages his leg threatening his career. Could have been written by Dawn Butler or a BLM activist."

"Surf With 'tedious' 'selective' 'inaccurate' 'bitter' tearful, lying, 'blinded' and conceited all squeezed into that last tetchy post I really don't think you need me to come up with any more names do you. Leavemy Truth doesn't enter into it. But I suspect Braverman's (denied) use is a lie, Sunak's reference was true. The point I am making is that these terms are being popularised to promote the notion of the will of the people being thwarted not by political incompetence but by malevolent, undemocratic forces. It is not so much the name calling but the populist (fuck you, Surf) intent behind it."

"Fo the Communist 12:08 Fri Mar 10 'I have said, a couple of times now, there is currently no equivalence between the use of 'Nazi' and 'fascist' with the use of 'lefty-this and lefty-that.' Indeed. But with you usual penchant for selective or inaccurate quoting, you have missed out the 'but' which followed 'currently no equivalence'. You went on to cry bitterly, as you have in about a dozen posts including the last one, about how awful the term 'lefty' is. So you claim to accept non-equivalence but then immediately give lie to that by going to huge and tedious lengths to demonstrate that there is equivalence. I suspect you are so blinded by self-righteousness, self-satisfaction and a sense of your own immense intelligence that you really can't see this. If this wasn't the case you would blush to keep using the word 'populist'. What term would you prefer to 'leftie'?"

"Surf You are - uncharacteristically, I will admit - all over the place. I have said, a couple of times now, there is currently no equivalence between the use of 'Nazi' and 'fascist' with the use of 'lefty-this and lefty-that. You acknowledge this in one part of your post and then revert to the original mistaken allegation in the same contribution. As you well know it all about the context as much as the words used. The very top of Government is trying to embed the terms in popular usage to advance its populist 'people versus those who hold us all back' agenda. Unless, as I say, it is a coincidence and Sunak and Braverman happened upon those phrases and that attack line within hours of one another per chance yesterday. Seriously, mate. Don't keep banging on at me, ask a Tory who is halfway close to Government and they will say the same. To be fair its a tactic that might well be their best shot at clinging to power. And in the meantime you - a fellow West Ham fan on a football forum - please feel free to call me whatever you like. I promise not to ""come over all fainty."""

"Fo the Communist 11:06 Thu Mar 9 'I have never said it's OK to throw around words like Nazi and fascist. You are making stuff up. Again.' Well of course you haven't used those actual words. However, you have implied that those words are not much worse than leftie. Since you are unable to come up with a term milder than leftie, you can't think they're that bad. 'Currently not an equivalence, but...' was your exact phrase, I think. Any ideas on what would be an acceptable substitute for 'leftie' yet?"

"Surf I have never said it's OK to throw around words like Nazi and fascist. You are making stuff up. Again. I'm also not particularly sensitive. I wouldn't stick around here if I was now would I? My point is there is an increasingly insidious intent behind the current use of words like 'leftist' (the malign use of terms like Nazi, fascist etc is more obvious). Do you think the increasing use of such terms at the top of Government is unconscious? There were two such references - from the PM and in the name of the Home Secretary - yesterday. Coincidence?"

"FO Like I said. What term would you prefer for political opponents of the left? What could possibly fail to upset your delicate sensibilities? Like I said, you seem to think it's OK for your lot to bandy about terms like 'extreme right', 'fascist' and 'Nazi', but you come over all fainty and reach for the smelling salts when someone says, 'leftie'."

"Surf We've gone through this before. It's populist stuff, the implication being that there is an elitist fifth column seeking to frustrate the will of the people. The truth of course is that the Government couldn't legislate its way out of the shower. That's my view. I accept you don't buy it. I mix with plenty of Tories who openly admit it though (maybe not the bit about the shower, granted)."
