How to deal with it? The USA views this seems to be a free market economy view along with an interpretation of the constitution. Citizens of the USA can quite easily purchase weapons that are devastatingly violent. They can also essentially buy a new gender. If they happen to be absolutely sick in the brain they can buy devastating weaponry and a new gender and go shooting up their old school. Americans had just as many guns and just as easy access to them for centuries but it is only in the last few decades that there have been these mass shootings. When societies breakdown it might not be a good idea to have easy access to guns but if I had that access, I would fight tooth and nail to keep it because....society is breaking down."

BBC website failed to use any pronouns at all. All neutral. Was quite clear immediately they were trans though you had to google to find other websites that actually said this. She didn't do this because she's trans. She did this because she's mentally ill... somehow there is a link there somewhere and I can't put my finger on it. Just been reading a statement by a trans group in America which condemned news media for misgendering the child murderer and basically blamed the murders on the media and politicians.
