"Universities have become “ideological monocultures” that do not tolerate different opinions, a British academic has said. Professor Matthew Goodwin, professor of politics and international relations at the University of Kent, claimed that debates surrounding issues of sex, gender and race as well as the controversial histories and politics of colonialism and Brexit have rendered campuses devoid of “serious intellectual diversity”. He said this is leading to people with views that differ from the “Left-wing” status quo “being either harassed or having to self-censor on campus”. The academic has faced criticism and controversy on social media following his recently published book Values, Voice and Virtue. In it, he argues that British politics has been shaped by a “new elite” and describes this as a university educated minority that is progressive, pro-migration, focused on diversity and, he claims, out of touch with the values of much of Britain. However, speaking on this week’s episode of The Telegraph podcast Planet Normal, which you can listen to on the audio player at the top of this article, Prof Goodwin specifically criticised campus culture, saying: “There is no serious intellectual diversity any more in the universities,” adding that “those who claim to be the most liberal and open of all are actually the first to try and shut down those who challenge this new consensus”."

joe royal 5:56 Wed Apr 19 It is great when you find yourself a job that you enjoy and your's sounds great. It took me until 30 to find mine but at least I did in the end. Snowdonia is beatiful and is where the maternal side my family originally came from - Jones's naturally. Also found out my great great (great great...) grandfather was a vicar in a Snowdonian villiage (visited his grave) and that he had a hand in the first translation of the Bible into Welsh. I visit there every gew yours as I have on old frien who lives near Llandudno. Last couple of times I have stayed at her's I took the long way back along coast towards Holyhead and then turned left into Snowdinia - worth taking it slowy and drinking in the views.

"Nurse. I love travel and enjoy driving so I’m in the ideal job. Just got back from Austria, the scenery up till you get to Munich is pretty spectacular, but…. I had to go Holyhead a few years ago to get a ferry and had loads of time to do it so instead of going the A55 way I went the slower but scenic A5. I’ve seen some beautiful sights over the years but snowdon can hold a candle to just about anything. Booked a cruise for Jan ‘24, South Pole and the Falkland Islands, not cheap but something very different."
