Woke watch
"There is a very good section on GB news where the ludicrous idiocies of Wokeness are looked at I thought we would should have one for WHO. I'll start with Baptiste on BBC: In Hungary,an ambassador's family are kidnapped by Islamic terrorists and carry out atrocities. At the end of the last episode Baptiste finds out that it is a false flag operation and conveniently, the real culprits are white supremacists who want to stop all immigration. Coronation Street ITV a gay black footballer is stopped by the police, because he is driving an expensive car. He is pushed to the ground during an altercation, and damages his leg threatening his career. Could have been written by Dawn Butler or a BLM activist."

Re: Woke watch
Perhaps Steinbeck could be edited so that every time a character is about to use the n word everyone stops and takes the knee? Seriously I have no problem with works of art reflecting the time they were written or set in. This idea like with Roald Dahl where people wanted to edit him and not have a FAT cսnt referred to as a FAT cսnt was ludicrous The only editing Dahl needs is to correct the spelling mistake in his name RONALD

Re: Woke watch
"What I find disappointing about this complaint is that Steinbeck was a supporter of the underdog. There is no mention of this by the complainer she is simply uncomfortable with the use of the N word. Steinbeck wrote a story at the time using the spoken language of the time and anyone reading it would have to reach chapter four before the first use of N*****. How will people know of things in the past, the things ordinary people experienced and lived through, If great writings are sanitised? Imho we need to keep books like Of mice and men and To kill a mocking bird complete and unexpurgated on the curriculum so that people can see how far we have come from past attitudes."

Fo the Communist 5:51 Thu May 25 'Well they will have to evidence to their bosses that the site is well-read' I doubt it. If that were the case then the front page of the BBC football site wouldn't be infested with articles about women's football and they wouldn't be prioritising the WSL over the Championship play-off in their fixture list.

Re: Woke watch
I am sure that whoever is in charge of the BBC website is told every day which stories generate clicks and are judged on that METRIC All in the name of the internal fight to be considered 'relevant' and to keep their resources as the licence fee is frozen. Of course the Licence fee IS irrelevant in this day and age. A proper state broadcaster isnt and it should funded out of general taxation and be encouraged to lift its standards and pitch rather than trying to attract mouth-breathers and no-marks

Re: Woke watch
Well they will have to evidence to their bosses that the site is well-read and generating interaction so engagement of any type will be welcome. But you are right it is far more the style of the Mail and other peddlers of the notion we are all going to hell in a handcart.

Re: Woke watch
I would get the 'rage-click' thing if it was the DM or Torygraph. But this is the BBC. They don't have to give a fuck if anyone reads it or not.

"So the 'call' is from a single Belfast student and her mother. Which begs the question, what's more out of control -'wokery' or the editorial judgement of today's BBC Northern Ireland's newsdesk?"

"There's another picture under the first one in that Daily Mail / Calvin Klein link. I'm pretty sure it's a very young John Cena. What's going to sell more undies, a fat trannie and his grotesquely obese girlfriend in a matching brassieres or a ripped and handsome WWE star in a pair of lunch-pack revealing shreddies? Go figure, as they say in Lala-Land..."

"https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-65685904 Norwich City boss admits that he has no interest in the woman's game. Top man although in a place that throws air slaps with Brighton for England's wokest city, he might not be popular with the fans. Is he a canary in the coalmine?"
