Woke watch
"There is a very good section on GB news where the ludicrous idiocies of Wokeness are looked at I thought we would should have one for WHO. I'll start with Baptiste on BBC: In Hungary,an ambassador's family are kidnapped by Islamic terrorists and carry out atrocities. At the end of the last episode Baptiste finds out that it is a false flag operation and conveniently, the real culprits are white supremacists who want to stop all immigration. Coronation Street ITV a gay black footballer is stopped by the police, because he is driving an expensive car. He is pushed to the ground during an altercation, and damages his leg threatening his career. Could have been written by Dawn Butler or a BLM activist."

Re: Woke watch
5th by moving out of large cities you are in turn putting more pressure on schools and healthcare outside of the cities. Immigrants flow in to big cities and the infrastructure cannot cope. In turn people like you move out of big cities and into the suburbs and rural areas where no new schools or hosipitals have been built and put pressure on the infrastructure there.

Re: Woke watch
"Large scale immigration has had AN impact on public services in some parts of the country. 100% true. That was clearly noticeable in changes in the part of London I lived in over 20 years until about 2019. I then moved somewhere else in the country for work, somewhere overwhelmingly white, England. Very very few non white people. Overall an economically prosperous place. The NHS here is absolutely ####ed just like where I used to live in London. It's not because of immigration that there are issues here with public services. Also, as we're all well aware the NHS has relied on skilled and unskilled immigrants to function for decades now. So, again, the idea that immigration is responsible for everything is just wrong. There are loads of people where I live now who've moved up from London. Most aren't here looking for better public services. They are looking for a place that hasn't changed, culturally, by 99% from 20 or 30 years ago. That's not about colour but about shared social norms and practices. Culturally I feel like where I live now is like London 35 years ago relatively safe, greater sense of community, some lines that even criminals up here won't go past. Don't get me wrong London has never been some haven of tranquility but it is very very different culturally than 35 years ago and I think for a lot of people that is what they are more concerned about. That's why Brexit referendum turned out the way it did. Lots of research showing people felt that the culture they were brought up with was disappearing with negative outcomes as a result. Of course it has made things economically worse in the medium term and may well be bad in the long term but it made people FEEL better. I've gone off on a tangent. In short - immigration is both good and bad. The EU was both good and bad."

"For those worried about all these brown babies at least Boris Johnson is trying to turn the tide. Now has 3 children with the latest wife and 8 in total (acknowledged). There are supposedly more but he refuses to confirm The latest is called Frank Alfred Odysseus Johnson with his wife pointing out that Boris picked one of the names The Guardian: ""The former prime minister Boris Johnson is keen to be thought of as a scholar of the classics. In Greek mythology, Odysseus leaves behind his wife and child to seek adventure, encountering many other women along the way."""

"Sounded like that is exactly what you were saying. As fifth pointed out even that is a failure if government to bring in higher levels of immigration.without proper planning. Now even as someone with a non economics background it's easy to see that with the way the system.worked migrants were getting underpaid ( in part thanks to.a loophole) and thatvdrove down wages overall.....to whose benefit. You have to say both business and government. While people were blaming migrants for poor pay and pushing the B word the government were being left be Now we have more vacancies in many sectors (some that have had those vacancies regardless btw) and Wages have gone up.though no where near the rate if inflation, the government are going to have to.use their other lever. Bring about a recession and drive up.unemoyment. We are all fuckjng pawns to.them ( whether immigrant Labour or not) and those who are actually doing the damage.and driving up.inflation through profit."

"Sven is right. If people read things that they don’t agree with and frankly think are out of order, then they should simply shut the fuck up about it and learn to live with it. Otherwise next thing we know, people will be demanding democracy and freedom of expression."

Debs if you lived near London and its suburbs there is no need to listen to the government and no doubts as to what is to blame.....

Re: Woke watch
"That's an interesting rant Debs! Firstly Sainsbury's adverts. And all the others. I have to confess that I find the overuse of black actors in so many ads and dramas etc are bordering on the stupid. I really don't care what colour someone's skin is but their culture often bothers me. Afro/Caribbeans are traditionally under achievers. Why would you use an under achieving race to represent your business except because you are adopting ""positive discrimination"". That offends me and should offend Afro/Carribean's too. Asians don't need ""positive discrimination"". They have a culture of achievement. Showing an under achieving family as representative of Sainsbury's shoppers turns me off as I want to be seen as a high achiever. I don't live in UK anymore anyway but the point should still be relevant surely? I would think that ""putting the NHS back into people's hands"" is the last thing that needs doing if you want a working Health service. I've never known any worker owned business thrive because they lack leadership. I suppose the Co-op is one and look at how well they do... Britain has a small landmass for its 70million people. At the moment there is a new city needed every year to accommodate immigrants. I find it disgusting that tax payers money gets spent housing the people that are uninvited guests until the law can be interpreted validity of their application to stay. I remember a protest somewhere up north where homeless people objected to a big hotel being bought to house illegal immigrants while they as homeless people are ignored... The real trouble though is apparent now that I see Britain from overseas. I live in a country without massive benefits but it does have a decent health service and very willing workers. They go hungry if they don't work. Brits whine when they haven't got the latest mobile...."
Re: Woke watch
You misunderstand me Debs. I’m not blaming immigration for the change in family values (although statistically the breakdown of the family unit is much higher among black people). I’m blaming immigration for our creaking infrastructure.

Re: Woke watch
"Oh my sweet lord. Did you manage to forget the whole of the 80s that went on to create the culture of selfishness, and breakdown of community in favour of tbe cult of the individual. I don't think you can lay that at the door of migrants and single mums. Our economy got more in from EU migrants than they took out and as for family many if not most migrants families will have their own very strong belief in the importance of family as you'd define it.. With many ( again if not most among certain groups) looking after their elderly that play a crucial role in their family structure."

"Personally, i dont care how many black people are on tv or doing their shopping. Immigration is a good thing but it needs to be controlled. It really is that simple."
Re: Woke watch
"I hate the word ‘woke’. But this woke nonsense sits in both my points - what we are teaching our kids, cost to healthcare, but more so the attitude and attention seeking behaviour that goes with it."
Re: Woke watch
"There are two side to the issue. 1. The infrastructure in which we live being shit. Schools, healthcare, energy, water, councils etc etc We pay a huge amount in taxes but it never solves the problem. 2. Society itself. This country has lost an identity and sense of community. People are lazy, selfish and self entitled. And it’s worse among younger generations. Families should be the cornerstone of society but it no longer exists."

Re: Woke watch
You are both missing the point..if the country is a great place to live then black.peoole in sainsbury adverts snd people advocating for rights isn't what would be making it bad but a brief look through thus thread and from.certain posters more than others and youth ink.that is where the problems were. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see its not. We can sit and argue all day ( theoretucally) about the faults of policy but essentially that is what they are. Yes the NHS needs to be put back into the peoples hands and stop going down the inevitable route of a US style healthcare system. Goose funny that as one of Brexits most ardent supporters was calling for more immigration the other day. They really need to get their heads together and work.out what they want. Oh no its totally split by faxtionalusm and now have a new group telling us red wall voters that we need to get rid of our foreign carers. Haven't got an ounce of common sense between them.

Re: Woke watch
"Like Brexit, anyone who thinks there are either 100% pros or 100% cons to immigration is being simplistic. As for this country, most of the problems are caused by governments and most negative outcomes related to immigration can also be attributed to the manner in which governments have managed / mismanaged immigration. Having lived in a neighbourhood for 20 + years dominated by recent migrants, I know that the overwhelming majority of immigrants don't want to come here to get handouts. They want to work. This doesn't stop there being negative implications of immigration but the idea they all come over to get benefits is just nonsense."
