"It's all very exciting thinking about who we could get but the one thing I dont want lost is the soul where players only care about playing for the money. We have had a period where we have had players who may not be good enough to win a title but did put in the effort and respect the badge. Thinking of the likes of Coufal, Soucek, Fornals and many of the older players. I dont want toxic dressing rooms and prima donas like Man Utd have. I want them playing for the club to really mean something other than a fat paycheck. Maybe this is laughable in the modern era but for me character scores high on any player signing here."

twoleftfeet Letting him go for 85m. think most would be ok with that. But with an FA charge hanging over him makes him a gamble that I cant see anyone taking. if they do it will be at less than what he is worth.

"I'm not sure I'd want Paqueta to stay, just another lazy Brazilian player. One good game now and then is not enough, he isn't a patch on Payet, now there was a player who would turn up."

If its true that the FA are still looking into the Paqueta case then anyone buying him would be taking a big gamble. Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed.

You can definitely add a left back and a central midfielder with a little bit of pace to that list Sir Alf... and probably two right backs tbh

"Paqueta will have to be sold unfortunately. Its the new FFP rules apparently? We usually have 50-70 million budget spend, earned another 30 million from Europa and may get a few million from selling Aguerd and some loose change from the rest of 5 or 6 old players. We need 200 million such is the scale of change so 85 mill for Paqueta will allow us that spend as we will do as with Rice and get most if it upfront. You would hope some of last years league and cup winning u21s will get in the squad and Downes woukd fair far better in a possession team under a different coach Just hope Steidten is ready to go in a months time? New continental style coaches lined up for interview, players representatives in start of negotiations etc A very very busy summer for Tim and team New reserve keeper ? Right back 2 CBs Wide left midfielder or new coach can make ut work with Cornet but seems we need another whatever Replace Paqueta 2 new strikers As said, best of U21s could help fill some understudy roles or give more depth but at least 4, probably 5 quality players needed and 30 million plus for at least 2 of them. Strikers most expensive of course Next month cant go quick enough to start “cleaning house” of the mess Moyes has left as regards the squad"

"I honestly think most people are underestimating the size of the rebuild needed. A dozen players needed... which we won't get, so the 'careful what you wish for' brigade will have plenty of opportunities to say I told you so"

I have been watching Everton - Forest with an eye on Gibbs White since he has been mentioned quite a few times on this thread. I think its safe to say this has not been a good performance from him today!

"I’d like us to sign Cunha of Wolves as I think he’d be a great option to have alongside Bowen and Kudus. No defence would feel comfortable dealing with those three. All capable of rotating and mixing it up too. Wolves did pay £40m plus though, so he wouldn’t come cheap."

"Wolves fans don't seem to rate Kilman that highly, in terms of they don't think he's worth the fee being touted about. You'd have to think Adarabioyo is much better value, and solves part of the homegrown issue."

I think we were linked with Max Kilman of Wolves recently Ogbonna will leave & Zouma's knee will finish him so need some younger centre half options. English ones like him and the Peterborough youngster Ronnie Edwards https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/apr/19/maximilian-kilman-interview-wolves-england-dream

If Leeds don't get promoted we should go for Summerville. Similar to Kudus but quicker. Only 22 and on 15k pw at Leeds.

"In the likely event we have no European football the concern has to be not only who we know will be leaving but can we hold onto the players we want to keep. We can't do a wholesale squad change. It's pretty poor that the squad has been allowed to get to this stage with so many old players. Keeper wise I'd try and keep both. Fabianski is old and it might be a season too far but there will be less games with no Europe so using him in the cups may give Areola a rest. Fabianski has performed well in last few games and shown he is still a top keeper. Defense is a shambles. Rumours are we would be happy to sell Zouma we know Aguerd has wanted out, Cresswell leaves out of contract and Coufal has also been unhappy about the deal the club offered. I'll be honest, Coufal has been a great signing and his commitment and effort have always been great. Plenty of assists too. His downside is pace and energy levels to get up and down all game. We need younger and maybe a better ball winner given we are without the ball a lot but I would be sad to see him leave as he is the type of player every squad needs. Assume in midfield Paqueta is likely going. Depends on who is interested for what money but wouldn't be surprised to see him force a move. Will be big interest in Kudus - can we convince him to stay? Assume Benrahma isn't coming back but if the buy option isn't taken up and Moyes goes he may come back? I think he has had his chance though. Downes will be back hopefully, I really want to see him play some games to form an opinion. Gets good reviews in Championship so should be a good sub/squad player which we have struggled with. Midfield really needs energy and Athletes. Players like Gibbs-White bring energy and creativity but I also quite like Danilo at Forest too. I'd take Onana from Everton too despite the fact the transfer failed on his demands. He is the sort of mobile athletic player that would help win the ball back. Strikers then take your pick from loads overseas we have been linked with. Always perplexed we have had decent strikers in the past we have got nothing from. Muniz at Fulham has impressed recently but could be a one season wonder. Clear that Ings isn't the answer and Antonio is on his way out and lasts at most 60 mins. Must be able to find someone to get more than 10 goals a season to be supplemented by Bowen and Kudus."

Nutsin You are a weird fantasist.... Based on what do you see Moyes a) being offered a new contract and b) he's going to sign it based on its reported caveats.. And then you top off the fantasy by suggesting we'll be in Europe next season.. You are either mentally deranged or nog a West Ham fan and attempting to wind everyone up or both..

"""I'd be tempted to give Ogbonna one more year also"" One of the maddest things I've seen suggested. He should never have been offered a contract last summer and we should have moved on from him by now. £70k a week for an almost 36 year old who barely plays? No thanks."

Squad numbers and strategy needs to be looked at also We talk about we need X number of players but the reality is we need a bigger squad and an approach for integrating the youngsters Simply by bringing in say 8 new players is not enough as our squad will still be tiny

Walker Peters has said recently that he loves playing with Flynn Downes and wants to play with him (at Southampton)… get Downes back and bring Walker Peters and Harwood-Bellis with him. Especially if they fail to get promotion.

"Whoever the new manager is I'd like to see some commitment to the youth players at the club. I just think having fresh blood and young legs on the pitch always helps the side out. We could have chucked on a youngster last night, what had we to lose?"
