"Arsenal blog Luis Brown confirms Arsenal departure with defender set to join West Ham Defender Luis Brown has confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal when his scholarship contract expires at the end of next month. The 18-year-old, who progressed all the way through the ranks at the club’s Hale End academy, wasn’t offered a professional contract by the Gunners. Brown has been training with West Ham United and is now expected to sign for the Hammers. During his time at Arsenal Brown, who can play at left-back or centre-back, made 31 appearances for the U18s, scoring three goals. He often captained the team last season. Brown also made his Premier League 2 debut as a substitute against Southampton and was named on the bench in the UEFA Youth League."

"Sport Witness West Ham join Brighton in race for Bundesliga talent – Competition growing for cheap summer option By Lucas Sposito West Ham United seem to have joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the hunt for Hertha Berlin youngster Ibrahim Maza. It’s German newspaper Bild who feature a story claiming the Bundesliga side should soon have to deal with the big interest that some of their players have been drawing. Hertha Berlin will have to make some sales to balance their finances this summer, and despite their wish to hold their big talents, some sales may be inevitable. Maza is one of those players, with Bild claiming that the likes of West Ham, Brighton, Brentford and Leicester City have been interested in him, having recently watched him in Germany. Other Bundesliga clubs such as Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg are said to be keen as well. The outlet claims the midfielder has a market value of €1.5m, although it seems like this big race can surely give Hertha Berlin a chance to make a bigger sale. Back in March, the very same Bild had already reported Brighton’s interest in Maza, claiming the 17-year-old was in the Seagulls’ list. Now they’ll have to face a much bigger competition against West Ham and others."

He didnt work out and we are getting our money back I'd hope for around £15m for Benrahma given he is doing well at Lyon and if Loppy doesnt want Cornet I'd still hope for £10m All goes in the pot for players we DO want

We’re selling players based on old valuations when they were frozen out by a departing manager. It’s the new way of being sold down the river and very poor business.

Was kilman his captain at wolves? I see Norwich are in trouble so could we pick up Sara and Rowe (think that’s the right spellings and can’t be bothered to check this early).

JWP would be the obvious choice if he was a starter Lopetegui. I can't see anyone from the current crop that stands out. I agree with Fare Cough. I like a captain to be in the middle of the pitch.

I think Bowen would be a good choice Assume everyone is thinking we will try and move Zouma with his dodgy knee on If we are trying to transition to a team that has the ball I'd be moving Soucek out .... should get a decent fee for him especially if he has a good Euros

Soucek should have been captain this year. Always leads by example in terms of effort and work rate. I notice he is always speaking to the ref as well.

"Bowen should be captain. Committed his long term future, understands the club, sets example with his work rate, our key player, and has grown in influence. Also has his head screwed on and talks very well. Seems entirely logical to me."

I can't see JWP being in the starting line up next season so can't see him being captain. FWIW I reckon Paqueta will still be here. If Lop is playing his favoured 433 I see us setting up as below. I reckon we need new 4 new 1st team signings: ------------------------ Areloa -- New RB --- Mavro ----- New CB --- Emerson --------- Kudus ----- Alvarez ----- Paqueta --- Bowen -------- New CF ----------- New LW If Paqueta goes it would be a little underwhelming to have JWP in his place. Depending upon how many U21s step up and who is retained I reckon we will need another 2-3 new signings for the squad.

I keep reading that JWP is going to be captain next season which is strange as it would mean he is in the starting 11.

Scott I read one of his stipulations coming here is that signings are not left to the end of the window due to the massive overhaul and that he and Tim have already been in contact with players and clubs to get them done early. That’s not to say some won’t come in late but the majority are done early and he has already identified who they are. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 3/4 signings in the first couple of weeks. Probably wants them done early due to euros but doesn’t that kick off the same time the window opens?

"Saw a headline this morning, I think it was a West Ham site but I can't remember where it was, that stated ""West Ham assembling amazing team under Lopetegui"". Which was odd because we haven't made any signings yet."

"Amusing reading all the rumours on web sites but these self appointed ITKs and “experts” are clueless like us on who we are moving for or might be negotiating with. They use a scattergun which is usually based on history of players we have looked at or been linked with in the past or previously played for Loprtegui or were coached by him. Logical in some ways but suspect most names suggested are wide of the mark. I just hope Steidten and team along with Loppy get younger, pacy players in the main who have good technique. They wont be established if we are to get them or would already have been snapped up by the super rich teams across Europe. In short, a few more ( in positions we need to upgrade ). like Kudus please :-) Too demanding and unrealistic expections ? Who me?"
