Manuel Last I saw was that Tim has spoken with Wesley’s representative but that there are 5 or 6 clubs interested. Seems less likely Same article said we were also one of 5 or 6 looking at Summerville of Leeds

"I notice at youth level for Brazil (whilst playing alongside Real Madrid bound superstar 17yo Endrick) he scored away in a 3-0 win against England and a winning goal in a 2-1 against Argentina. This lad ain't so much about scoring plenty though, he's a creator from midfield taking Defenders on from what I can tell. One thing I do know is one of the best around at developing youth, is 2-Time Trophy winning Spain Coach Lopetegui..."

"Posted because Liverpool are/were looking at him… Guilherme only made his professional debut a year ago for Palmeiras but has already developed an impressive reputation. He featured regularly last season in an advanced midfield role, turning heads with his speed and passing ability. The teenager, who joined Palmeiras at the age of 11, scored a last-gasp winner for his side in their Copa Libertadores victory over Independiente del Valle just last week, having appeared as a substitute. Guilherme has already been promoted to the Brazil Under-20 side.…. Guilherme has already been branded the 'new Ronaldinho' in Brazil amid similarities with the former Barcelona and AC Milan icon. Ronaldinho was just 21 when he left Grêmio for Europe and Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking to Globo in 2021, he admitted he has another idol, revealing: ""Lionel Messi is the player I like to watch the most and I always follow him. For me, he is the best in the world. He is my great inspiration."" Guilherme is continuing to make waves in Brazil and looks set to be the next South American talent to make the move to Europe. If he is going to become available, Liverpool has to make sure it is right in the mix for his signature."

"Reminds me of when Sullivan once boasted of trying to get another young up and coming Brazilian superstar Neymar, only to fail miserably. Only this time this actually looks like it's going to get concluded. Just another Steidten fluke more down to Sporting Director Noble, no doubt..."

"Our Academy still manages to achieve that with relative success, Alf identifying and attracting some fine unpolished gems in recent times - See Rice. And The Academy is thankfully producing once again and long may it continue what with the likes of Earthy, Casey, Scarles all chomping at the bit these days."

Oh hang on, thinkng back on some of the players and our reputation thru the 60s and 70s, I should have said “if they could play a bit and WERE drunk” Wally signed em up :-)"

"...Fucking hell Nagel, I give up. You crack on with your nonsense about Nolan (??) and how Steidtens achievements in the recruiting/scouting game isn't so much down to him, which is all I ultimately care about. His track record dating way back to Werder Bremen right up to the present day with us at West Ham via Bayer leverkusen, speaks for itself."

We've certainly come a long way from relying heavily on the Muff Diver to the Pearl Diver as a Football Club ran more professionally.

I'm not trying to belittle Steidten. Just redressing the balance since you've gone massively overboard and are frankly talking out of your arse and clearly have no idea what these roles actually entail. Basically what you're saying is akin to saying that Kevin Nolan has been picking the team and choosing the tactics and should be credited for us winning the Conference League (or should be blamed for everything else that's happened on the pitch in recent times).

"It's clear we need a blend. But we setup a scouting network in Brazil before he even arrived so to not leverage it would be dumb. But we're not a club that can go out and buy 6 proven top class players. We just don't have those funds or revenues, so looking to target some value from South America, and then some rough diamonds closer to home is likely a smart thing to do. He's not proven himself the second coming, but neither has he been given the chance to fail either and the alternative is Moyes dithering while hunting for Manchester castoffs, or Sullivan asking his mates which players they can both make a dime on. If he can find some talent in Brazil at good.prices why not...a lot of talent has come out of the country and if you wait til they prove themselves in Europe we're priced out at that point. His nickname is the Pearl Diver for finding talent that appreciates in value. Time to give him a chance to do that, and if 3 out of 5 come off we'll be well placed to sell them and move forwards. He's said it's a 5 year project, and the model is to find, polish, sell, repeat. Let's not condemn it before the first attempt."

"I'm fully aware of who Simon Rolfes was as a Sporting Director at Leverkusen who played a part, just as Mark Noble does for us. They have an oversight of everything that happens at their respective Clubs but the one that scouts, identifies the Players/Coaches and negotiates and concludes the deals is Steidten the Technical Director. It's churlish to try and belittle/undermine Steidtens position in any way but you're more than welcome to keep trying. Fuck knows why Liverpool, Chelsea or Spurs amongst other Clubs in Europe were trying hard to gain his services...."
