Did I just see someone say Cornet shows glimpses of promise last season? He looked fucking GASH. The one springs to mind is the game at home he scored in. Couldn't make a pass to save his life

"It really is poor to give Cresswell another year. He was over the hill two seasons ago. Seems the club is still far too sentimental and attached to long serving 'nice guy' players. I guess the home grown quota was part of the thinking, but still."

"Who? Cresswell or Johnson? If BJ signs a new deal unless Coufal or Emerson are off then we won’t be signing a new full back, Sullivan just doesn’t spend on em and with less games this season we won’t have more than 4 at the club."

I would hope that Cresswell will be third choice left back behind new signing and Scarles.

"I'm suspecting (read ""hoping"") that Creswell's work next season will be more mentoring & coaching with the occasional appearance in times of need. Given that it's West Ham though, it's probably more likely to try and wring more blood out of a very dry stone to keep the bean counters happy than anything pitch-side related."

"Or as the rumours suggest, he is back up to a new full back coming in and the youth earmarked for that position."

"I am going to make a wild guess that Cornet will, like Downes, be given a chance by Lopetegui? And possibly as a wing back which seems, from reading descriptions of his tactics and set up at previous clubs, key to the possession style he implements? Cornet has pace and played wing back at Lyon? Anyone any insight on how decent or not he was in that role? He can play wide or as a forward and has good technique too. Injuries are one of his big prioblems. Stays fit under a different coach who appreciates playing more on the proverbial “front foot” and u never know? He might be like a new player? Just like Downes, a traversty he was afforded so few opportunities under Moyes and despite showing promise in some cameos last season was dropped unceremoniously each time. Almost as if reasons connected to Moyes ego and insecurity (a player recruited via Sully or Newman ) took priority over common sense or judgem"

"Shocking decision for Cresswell to get a new deal, if Johnson ends up staying then it’ll be the same Full Backs as last year, fucking great."

"All these young lads in their rooms making up stories on their web sites, using same snippets info we have or just being mischeaveous, are making it very difficult to know what is really happening. They should get real jobs but I suppose sitting in yer bedroom in yer pants and playing at being a journalist is easier to make a bob or two"

"LOL. Yeah, it's confusing. In Spain they say 'kilos' for anything that's a lot, especially if it's a million. So the salary offer is allegedly about €75k per week."

"West Ham closing on signing of Luis Guilherme. Paperwork exchanged on €30m deal, Tim Steidten in overseeing final stages. Intermediaries from Saudi offered 3x #WHUFC personal terms figure but no official offer from deal makers. Big coup if completed @Toby_Cudworth Tim Steidten is in Brazil to oversee the completion of Luis Guilherme's move to West Ham. The 18 year old is expected to present himself for a medical very soon. @GoalBR Ok Tim, you can take the hood off his head and untie his hands for the obligatory grinning Private Jets snaps for us now.."

"Tierney only started 16 out of those 26 games. Even if you ignore the games he missed due to injuries, you have to wonder why he couldn't cement a place in Sociedad's first 11. Not good enough is my guess."

Tierney played 26 times this season for Sociedad. According to wiki he had two hamstring injuries so nothing too serious. Tierney would be perfect in a Lop system and Scarles would undoubtedly get his opportunity at some point with Cresswell as cover.

LB is a difficult one... if we find a good young(ish) LB then that pushes Ollie Scarles down the pecking order. Why not give Scarles a run at it and hope he can make the position his own while we have Cresswell as decent cover. Failing that Tierney would be an option if the price is right on the basis that Scarles would be likely to get plenty of opportunity.

"Zinchenko is a non-starter. He's like Emerson, always looking to cut inside. He actually plays CM for Ukraine. Tierney would be a much better fit but seems a bit injury prone. You'd hope that Steidten has some better choices on the radar."

"Emerson doesn't fit the way Lopetegui plays at all. He prefers full backs who run the touchline and put crosses in, so one way or another it was always on the cards that he leaves."
