"Kilman would improve our central defence but simply not worth £45m which Wolves are using to fend off suitors. And its worked. Trevoh Chalobah seems much better value and has looked decent the few times I’ve seen him appear or at least he looked strong, quicker than Kilman and is younger. At £25m he looks a much better deal although obviously lacks first team experience of Kilman. Steidten and analysts will make the call and there’s also this O’brien at Lyon ? they might think is a better alternative. But we have done the right thing imo and now walked away. Im hoping its one of those serendipity things when desirable discoveries happen almost by accident"

Sounds a bit bitter Sullivan if anything hangs on too long with managers so can’t see him sacking no matter how bad the start Hopefully with July 1 on Monday things will move on the endless links Saw talk of a swap with Southampton of Walker-Peters for Downes. I guess with a swap we can do what Chelsea & Villa are doing and put a ludicrous value on them to help FFP. A sale at £40m and £8m in the cost column if they are 5 year deals

"You’ve posted enough for me to notice your negativity on the manager (head coach) before he has even had one match. Am I wrong, and you’re very pro him? It hasn’t been all summer. It’s not even July and we only started negotiating a week ago. Don’t be dramatic. Jury is out on if Kilman is as average as you state, but average is an improvement on what we saw last season."

"I don’t see what we did with Kilman was wrong. Lowball bid, another slightly improved and they won’t move. Looks like we have moved onto over targets with Jake O’Brien being approached and Chalobah being offered."

"Ron Eff 8:03 Fri Jun 28 ""No it isn’t Trundle, but you’ve had a bee in your bonnet about Lopetegui since day one so you’ll continue to find fault somehow."" I've barely able to post on this site since day one of him joining, so I don't how you've come to that conclusion. I was hoping the club would be getting away from chasing the managers target all summer and not getting him though. And I still think we'd be absolute mugs to drop half of our transfer budget on one average Premier league centre back. Especially as we have other positions that badly need strengthening."

Wouldnt mind Chalobah if he is interested. Can play Centre and right back and supposedly defensive mid as well. Saw a figure of 25m quoted.

"No it isn’t Trundle, but you’ve had a bee in your bonnet about Lopetegui since day one so you’ll continue to find fault somehow. They identified him as a target, engaged about a week ago, offered what they thought was fair value and walked away when Wolves didn’t move on price. Nothing wrong with any of that."

Wolves are sticking firm with their £45m valuation of the average Kilman. Fucking wish we'd move on from him. It's like having Moyes all over again chasing one player all summer.

"I think there is evidence it's in play....the guy saying it is in play is a known confidant of Steidten, doubled down on his story after 'checking his sources', and has been reliable on West Ham news since the arrival of Steidten (and had the jet picture of Mavropanos). Whether he stays is clearly based on 2 things. 1. If the club gets an offer north of 85m and Kudus wants the move. 2. If the club needs the money to finance squad rebuilding, and the Paqueta situation isn't resolved in time to make that sale this Summer. Think that's the Soup to Nuts of it."

"My armchair fan instinct is that Kudus will stay at least another season based on a few factors: 1) hes still young and best years ahead of him. 2) reasonably well settled in London 3) seems ti have some integrity albeit based on interview comments etc so cutting and running after 1 year of a 5 year contract is money grabbing and greed at its worst ( yes many players have form for that i realise) 4) new manager and new faces with him perhaps being given a chance to play in his favoured position central behind strikers 5) will be a guaranteed starter getting 90 mins most weeks as opposed to a very rich club where there are no such guarantees 6) no evidence to say his buy out clause is already in play as opposed to it being next year as first reported ( journo bullshit to create a click bait story) Of course, if the clause is active and an offer north of 90 even around 100 comes in there is an argument that its good business for a “chasing club” or “champs league wannabe” taking the money and investing in 2 or 3 quality additions that make us stronger as a squad overall which is what’s needed to make and sustain top 6 finishes?"

"TBR TBR Football now understands that West Ham are continuing to hold talks with intermediaries of Real Betis left-back Juan Miranda. The former Barcelona defender is set to leave Betis at the end of this month, when his contract will expire. As expected, several European sides are keen on a move, including Portuguese giants FC Porto, who have also held talks. West Ham in talks to sign Real Betis’ Juan Miranada who will soon be a free agent TBR understands that West Ham have been watching the 24-year-old for months, who is set to be one of Spain’s over-aged players at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Miranda made 32 appearances for Betis last season, who will be loath to lose their ‘outstanding’ talent. But Betis’ loss could be West Ham’s gain, who need better depth at left-back given Aaron Cresswell is now 34-years-old. Emerson Palmieiri has proved his credentials as a starter in the Premier League, but any injury to the Italian would currently spell problems for Lopetegui. And it’s also important to note that Emerson has been linked with a move away from West Ham this summer. Therefore a move for Miranda, who would be something of a coup on a free transfer, would be a good insurance policy in both regards. TBR understands that Aston Villa had held talks with Miranda before opting to sign Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Wolverhampton Wanderers also like the Spaniard and see him as a replacement for Rayan Ait-Nouri, should he depart this summer."

If Kudus buyout is active we need to be prepared as obviously if someone stumps it up he can walk & nothing we can do. You’d want deals in place & prices set on replacements before clubs see we’ve just banked £85m or whatever it is Been a bit quiet since the Brazilian kid but guess July 1 will see things start to kick off I know we have said we want incoming players in before preseason on July 21(?)

The Kilman rumour has reared its ugly head again. Fabrizio Romano is suggesting we're going to back with a second proposal. We're idiots for chasing him. Move on to the next target FFS.

"Plettenburg reporting Kudus release clause is active at 85m from now....plus we're interested in tonnes of left footed right wingers...plus we were expecting 85m for Paqueta...plus we're hearing we don't have the budget we thought we did. Could it just be we're drumming up business for Kudus, because Steidten's whole summer plan was based on getting the Paqueta 85m so we need that income from one of our big players...which basically means Paqueta, Bowen or Kudus. Could be were thinking Kudus out (85m), Soule in (30m), then using the banked 50m to get the rest of the squad rebuild done."

"if we only had £60m to spend this summer, i doubt we would have dropped around a third of our summer budget, or even a quarter of it if the £60m is what's left in the kitty after our first signing, on an 18 year old Brazilian who's natural position is where we have the most depth in the squad. Exciting as he is as a prospect we have more pressing positions to fill if money is tight. Also after what happened to him at Wolves i wouldn't be surprised if Lopetegui didn't get some cast iron guarantees on transfer budget before he signed on the dotted line."

The squad as it currently stands: GK Areola Fabianski Foderingham Full backs Coufal Johnson (not good enough) Emerson Cresswell (old and past it) Centre Backs Zouma (crocked) Mavrapanos Aguerd Kehrer (going) Midfield Ward-Prowse Alvarez (injured) Paqueta (suspended) Soucek Downes Forward Benrahma Kudus Guilherme Antonio Ings Bowen Cornet I think we will have to keep Downes and Kehrer at this rate.

"Don't believe it's only 60m, especially when consider that we have a new manager who needs to sign about 6 players, he would have demanded a proper budget too. 60m is less than we've had available in a summer window for about a decade as well. Calling BS on that. Reckon we'll spend similar to what we usually do, 80-100m even without the Paqueta money. We'll likely have 30-40m on other player sales, Benrahma & Kehrer fees alone are about 20m. Maybe he means 60m plus any incoming fees."
