"Nags - Spin it how you want but clearly he will be Antonio's replacement. I'm reading he leads the line well, bit of a beast, pacey and with a good scoring average? 35 mil sounds like a snip in that case."

I'll tell you who's he's not at all like. Ings. Let's hope the club manage to somehow offload him if we're going for a big guy up top.

"Nagel 5:16 Tue Jul 9 No. I don't remember actually commenting about Cole Palmer. So you can presume all you like. I am normally very positive about most transfers. I am not actually being negative about this one. Just seems a very high sum for a kid who hardly played last season. So, if you want to dig down, firstly he has had 109 professional games, not the 130 you mentioned. He scored 9 goals in two seasons for Envigado (don't know if that's a decent standard) and then 8 goals in one season for Chicago Fire (which we know is Championship standard). Does that make him established and experienced enough for the PL? Unai Emery didn't think so. But if you do then I will take your word of Unai Emery's. And so add his 5 goals for Villa, he has scored 22 in 109 which means he scores a goal every 5 games. May be again why he didn't play much for Villa last season. And they want £35m for him. And I did ask if he was any good. So I don't see why you need to respond in such a cuntish and flippant way. But as you seem to rate him more than Unai Emery i will go with your wisdom. I am not slating the kid and don't mean to sound negative. Just raised a simple question that it seems alot of money for a player that isn't established in the PL and only has experience in sub standard leagues. is that ok?"

"I think he’ll be a good signing, when I’ve seen him he has caused sides problems. Thing is with the attitude claim he comes here he has a ridiculous high chance of being out main man up top so he won’t have much to moan about."

"From what I've seen he's not much like Antonio at all. His shooting is probably his best quality. Hard to say how prolific he'd be if he started regularly. Last season in the PL he scored 5 goals in 462 mins, which works out at about a goal a game, and 3 of those goals were against Man City & Liverpool. Looks to me like he could score a lot if given the right service. His ""notorious"" attitude problems seem to be mainly that he got stroppy on social media about not being played enough."

"900 minutes odd for Villa last season and 7 goals, that's roughly a goal every 1.5 games.. It's not bad at all"

"Interesting development, can't say I noticed him at Villa, so an Antonio replacement, i.e a battering ram, leading the line type, not important if he's not prolific?"

Maybe Emery has a touch of the Moyes and just doesn't like him and he wants playing time. I'm sure I heard or read somewhere that he was bought for him and not by him and that even when he's looked good he's taken him off.

"Obviously Duran has good potential, but he is Notorious for his terrible attitude, which is why Emery is desperate to cash in on him."

"Using the tried, tested and proven player recruitment we all tend to use ( sitting on sofa blowing off and watching games or highlights on the telly), this Duran fella definitely has potential and is a real handful for defenders. Steidten and team will probably use data analysis ( KPIs ) and squalid professional scouting and recruitment techniques but in spite of that they can rest assured my casual, armchair analysis is backing them on this one. I wasnt even pissed one time I saw him come on for Villa !!! The Sir Alf stamp of approval. A guarantee, 100% mitigation of risk *** taps nose ***"

He is only 20 Looked lively when he came on and scored twice in the 3-3 v Liverpool though one was a complete fluke Would be more worried that his parents couldnt spell John

Well it's 5 more than Haller and Scamacca had scored when they rocked up.? And our success rate at forwards before Steidtan was called in has been phenomenal.!

"""But he is hardly established. 5 Premier league goals. For that money can we not get someone more experienced with a bit more pedigree."" Presumably you were one of the people saying the same thing when we were offering £40m+ for Cole Palmer last summer? Duran is a lot more established then he was, and at a younger age. 10 international caps, 130 top flight games (in Colombia, USA and England). That's a fair bit of experience for a 20 year old."

"Given he didn't play many minutes for Villa last season (~510) his highlights real looks like he does plenty of good things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UFtOHCJX0I&ab_channel=ultrasfctvPremium Fast, strong, decent skill, cannon of a shot and good on the volley. It's probably the going rate for highly rated potential these days."

Not meaning to sound too negative about the Duran deal. But he is hardly established. 5 Premier league goals. For that money can we not get someone more experienced with a bit more pedigree. Is he any good?

"To risk the wrath of others on here, it's an awful lot for someone with 5 Premier League goals to his name. But it does seem like he barely started for them (3 games?), so you'd imagine he'd be Hungry Like the Wolf."
