"Manuel 5:55 Sun Jul 14 He sounds like a right desperate cսnt. I mean, fuck me, Downes is a decent player and all that, but if Soton are that desperate to keep him then it probably tells you more about their position than anything else. If I was running West Ham I would keep Downes just to upset that cringey prick."

Hope we take a punt on Duran… could turn out to be a world beater and is a risk worth taking. At Villa he isn’t going to get the opportunity to get ahead of Watkins so he will be champing at the bit given a chance.

Downes is quite rightly in Austria being assessed by the manager. Am hoping he is kept and gets a chance in his best position If we decide he should go Southampton need to remember that he was their best player and they fell apart when he was out for a few games.

"Speaking at a Q&A session with fans on Saturday, Southampton boss Martin was asked about the club's pursuit of Flynn Downes. To which he said: ""It will take more time. We just have to be patient. I wanted him here last week, four weeks ago even. ""When someone is owned by another club, and they are a good player, they are always going to try and keep them. “I hope, that at some point, we will show enough love and give West Ham enough money. Martin has joked he will 'cry himself to sleep' if Downes doesn't return to Southampton"

I don't think anyone in the world including Fofana's mum thinks he's better than Duran.

"We are not in for the likes of Solanke and Toney, looks like Toney may even end up at Man Utd. Suspect we will sign Duran together with a left winger and that will be it for the forward position, unless Ings goes and we may then replace him on the cheap."

"Sport Witness West Ham in contact for player who ‘no longer feels comfortable’ at current club – Deal there to do By Sean Lunt West Ham United have made contact with Red Bull Salzburg defender Oumar Solet as he looks to leave the Austrian side this summer. That’s according to Salzburger Nachrichten, who say the player ‘no longer feels comfortable’ at the Austrian club and wants to move on. They explain that Salzburg are expecting a major overhaul of their defensive options this summer, with several of the current stars, who make up arguably the best part of the current team, looking to depart. Indeed, those departures are ‘imminent’, and Solet is one of those who could be on his way sooner rather than later. The central defender ‘no longer feels comfortable’ in Salzburg and is keen to leave the club if he can, something which should be made easy given the number of suitors he has. Roma, Wolfsburg and West Ham are said to have already been in contact with the 24-year-old, although his €10m transfer fee is considered to high at this point. Either way, West Ham are one of the sides to have been in contact and there is a deal there to be done should they want it. The big question is whether they do, or whether they do at this point given they’ve just spent big on Max Kilman and also have Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd as options in central defence too. We’d suggest that perhaps one, or two, of those may need to move on before Solet could arrive, but he’s a name to keep an eye on, nonetheless."

"They wanted £60 mil for Solanke last year before he signed a contract and had a great season. Lop has lots of experience with elite youth talent, maybe he's confident he can get the best out of Duran, I think it's an exciting signing."

I know Toney is otherwise engaged but instead of a £35m punt on potential I'd rather we were looking at Solanke Probably £15m more but a much surer bet & think he would work well in combination with Bowen & Kudus

"Logic says if we sign Duran then he has to be the main striker who starts otherwise he will be a problem. Basically has to hit the ground running and be a success otherwise he will also become a problem. Sounds too risky for me, surely we should just sign someone more proven and stable with a better attitude."

"Sport Witness West Ham ‘have moved’ for signing – Set to rival Everton for summer deal West Ham United ‘have moved’ to try and sign Hellas Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua and look likely to rival Everton for his signature. That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Cameroonian Is popular in the Premier League and both Everton and West Ham have shown an interest. The newspaper reports that West Ham ‘have moved’ for the defender, who is valued at €8m by the Italian club. They only signed the 22-year-old on a permanent basis this summer, paying €3m to get him from Charleroi in Belgium after a successful loan spell last season. But they’re now eyeing an immediate €5m profit on him thanks to interest from the Premier League, where Everton and West Ham are keen. The Toffees were the first to show an interest in him when it was reported earlier this month that they had shown an interest, with that followed up by another report earlier this week that they were ‘ready to buy’ him. Now West Ham appear to have entered the race, with Gazzetta reporting that they ‘have moved’ for the defender and are ready to rival Everton for him. Whether that means they’ve lodged a formal bid or simply been in contact isn’t mentioned but we’ll assume the latter given it’s not specifically stated otherwise. Either way, Jackson Tchatchoua now has two Premier League clubs in his talk and with an €8m asking price, it’s easy to imagine both stepping up their interest."

"This Duran sounds about as nuts as Ballotelli. The trouble with players of that ilk is they need more individual managerial care than others which detracts from the squad. Managers get hugely criticised for failing to harness the talents of wrong uns until somewhere down the line less than sentient fans realise, as an example, that BFS was not the problem it was Morrison."
