"Nutsin 12:38 Wed Jul 17 '''Now put the money into the kitty and sign his replacement'' 'Replace' someone who has hardly played for us? Logically, that would mean the 'replacement' wouldn't play? Besides, we now how Potts and Orford knocking on the door for those spots."

One thing that has remained ruthlessly efficient regardless of the coach or manager or a Director of Football being in post or not is the club’s ability to sell players. We don’t seem to demand too much or encourage bidding wars. We have been selling them off every window for a while or loaning to sell. A finely oiled machine. Its almost as if paying a few weeks less in wages is more important? Who would think like that? Oh hang on ( *** image of little chap dressed up as Stalin enters mind *** )

"Not surprised to see Downes leave, he isn’t up to the level we need. Called it a while back. Glad to see we did it early enough to find a replacement too. Shame cos he is a West Ham fan and would’ve loved to have seen him kick on with us but we made the right call. Good luck to him. Now put the money into the kitty and sign his replacement."

"4 weeks to the start of the season. A player a week needed if Loppy is to get his wish to have his squad in place before the kick off? As mentioned below, agents are “fly boy” “chancers” and looking to maximise fees and in turn their commission. Duran being priced out of a move to us, same with the CB at Nice, Bergjwin at Ajax. Fees quoted currently 10 million too high. Wan Bassaka issue is his wages. Good defender but mediocre in attacking situations. Walker Peters dood attacking wing back but less solid defensively. He has also been priced out of a move by his club currently. Last year of his deal and they want 20 or 30 million? No chance. We will no doubt have to wait to see a few of these chancer clubs and agents get real. So I dont see much happening for a few weeks but woulld be delighted to be proved wrong as we are as strong as a chocolate teapot in the right back and forward positions."

"Inter Miami News West Ham make first approach to sign ‘really impressive’ Inter Miami youngster Premier League side West Ham have reportedly made their move to sign one of Inter Miami’s most highly-rated talents. The summer transfer window is in full flow across the world with some big-money moves in the works as we speak, with Inter Miami playing their own role in the market, namely in their pursuit to sign former Real Madrid star Raphael Varane. With Sergio Ramos also believed to be a target for the Herons, it’s clear that the Florida franchise are ready to spend big this summer on a new defender, with Nicolas Freire currently out for the rest of the year after injuring his ACL. Yet one Inter Miami star could be heading to the Premier League in the coming weeks. West Ham make first contact to sign Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez According to journalist Bruno Pont, West Ham have made their first move to sign Diego Gomez, with the Inter Miami midfielder already wanted by Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. Pont wrote on Twitter: “West Ham and other Premier clubs asked about the Paraguayan, Diego Gomez. An Italian club has also appeared as interested.” Praised by Kieran Gibbs as a ‘really impressive’, Gomez is attracting a lot of Europan interest this summer, with the 21-year-old midfielder enjoying a great year at Inter Miami even after missing the last two months due to injury. And with West Ham now in the race to sign Gomez, Inter Miami could soon see a bidding war begin between the Irons and Brighton for the Paraguay international, which might be beneficial for the Herons. Gomez has a big transfer decision to make this summer Gomez clearly has a huge future in store in Europe with Premier League teams already chasing the versatile midfielder with clubs from Italy also monitoring the Inter Miami star. And this summer, Gomez will need to make a big decision on which team he wants to join, with the Herons slowly losing their grasp on keeping hold of the 21-year-old for the rest of the window. Indeed, Gomez has the potential to become a real star if he was to move to England, and Brighton and West Ham will be ideal landing spots for the youngsters, who can thrive in the Premier League."

"Sport Witness West Ham pushed forward for €20m swap deal – Hammers would want wages subsidised Juventus continue their efforts this summer to get rid of players they don’t see playing a big role under new manager Thiago Motta next season. Two of the exits they most want to secure are Weston McKennie and Arthur Melo. The US international was almost included in the deal which took Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa to Juventus, however, he wanted a pay off from the Turin club and to be one of highest paid players at the Birmingham side. That deal then collapsed. Arthur has been linked with clubs including Everton, and now West Ham are dragged into the picture. According to Calciomercato, Juventus could arrange a swap deal with the Hammers. That would see Kostas Mavropanos moving from West Ham to Juventus, and Arthur going the other way. Both players would be valued at €20m. Arthur spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, and did well. Juventus subsidised his huge wages there, continuing to pay 70% of his salary during the period. West Ham would surely ask for something similar to go through with a move."

"For what it's worth why not Wan Bassaka and Walker Peter's at right back and Coufal can go to Galatasaray. Él Nesyri as striker Maybe the Milenkovic from Fiorentina and they can chuck in Amrabat as well. Good player but the Man U car crash played him out of position at left back all season. The three Moroccans might just click together - I still think Aguerd needs some proper coaching instead of ""Git yer heed on it Fez"""

"Agents are cunts They keep all their options open for as long as possible and it's difficult to complete any deals quickly unless you are Chelsea, Man City... maybe Arsenal too. Of course it doesn't help when your chairman still likes to stick his oar in instead of enjoying a brandy and cigar with his trotters up on his chinzy coffee table. But we knew that already."

"I had hoped with this all new whizzy set up we have, that we'd have seen a couple of more players in by now. I mean, it's not like we've needed a striker for the last 16 years or anything, is it? And we'd be mental paying anything like the £40m Arsenal want for Reiss Nelson."

"At 24 Downes probably needs to be first choice somewhere or at least getting major game time, and hard to see him and Alvarez in the same line up. That position is so important in Lope's whole gameplay that it's not one to coax someone along in. Still think we should have told them ""25m"" to make up for the premium they're trying to stick on KWP. Anyway, good move for Flynn, and hope it goes well for the lad (although suspect he might end up coming up just short...Josh Cullen style). Be interesting now to see what gets decided about Potts, and Soucek. Alvarez gets booked too often to be the only player that can play that role. Soucek doesn't have the distribution ability, and Potts is too young. Suspect we may say Alvarez plays most football the time, and when he's out we go 3 at the back and stick Kilman centrally to bring the ball out (maybe if Aguerd is still there, he comes in at LCB. Might be a better option that a second DCM whose backup to Alvarez (not as good) or someone who expects to play and gets frustrated."

"I get the impression that Lopetegui prefers the DM to drop back between the CBs, creating a back 3 while the full backs push forward. That's probably not really Downes' game, and we have more than enough CMs already, so selling makes sense. We might still need a backup for Alvarez who can perform that role though."

"Suspect any deal for Walker-Peters or Ings are just viewed as being separate, which is probably the way to go. We now have Orford, Potts and Earthy around the DM/COM spots, so probably thought best to take the money for Downes, always a shame to see a WH fan go though."

"Well, if we have agreed to Sell Downes to Saints then some movement or negotiations will involve Walker Peter (assuming he is an important target) and maybe Ings as well you would have thought? As it's one thing saying your open to selling and agree a fee but another getting the deal done on your terms (and Saints of course) so doubt this a pants pull down!. Unless of course Lopi and the Scarf botherer don't rate Downes and haven't got him in the plans so take the money?"

Don't know how we only managed to get 15+3 million for Downes given their open desperation to sign him. We've left money on the table there.

£18m seems fair value. I’d have probably kept him but suspect he doesn’t want to be back up when Martin clearly see’s him as their most important midfielder.

Being reported by one source as £18m Would hope it also involves Walker-Peters coming to us and Southampton sticking to their offer of £6m for Ings .... him agreeing and them taking all his wages
