So nothing to do with the op he had a couple of years ago or what we overlooked in his medical to get him here? You’ve decided he has early onset of arthritis and will need a knee replacement and out of the game in two years because you are in your 60’s. You do realise how that sounds Alf? Right? It’s not rocket science to know he is at the end of the road in the premiership. Next you will be banging on about Sullivan and diagnosing his mental state….

"As per post match report and picture of Zouma in white knee bandages after his 45 min first half, run out ( bandages containing ice etc by the sounds of things). “When the game finished, Kurt Zouma was spotted hobbling around the pitch applauding the fans. The Frenchman played the first-half for West Ham, and put in a solid display. However, his knees are clearly a huge issue” As a old mid 60s git, I would say its early onset arthritus through wear which will see him out of the professional game within 2 - 3 years and knee replacement before 40. A backup role is going to suit all parties. The need for another CB with the lightweight Aguerd departing seems to be the big priority along with a striker, RB, central midfield “engine” and left winger. 4 weeks to get it sorted? Hope we can get one of these positions addressed this week but the greed of clubs, agents and players along with our limited budget has inevitably slowed all activity? Duran for £31mill ( 37 mil euros ) and generous addons ( Villa insistence as I think they know he is likely to be a bery good player in time ) sounds like its closest but Sullivan’s ego and need to drive a hard deal ( to prop up its ego ) could scupper it or as usual see negotiations dragging on and on. Dont be surprised if we start against Villa with Zouma and Coufal in defence, Ings or Cornet up top and Potts or Soucek etc covering for the still injured Alvarez."

"I agree FCJ, we rarely make a 'Marquee' signing that fully lives up to the hype. Have to trust Steidten knows what he's doing and can work in harmony with J-Lo. Time will tell."

"Not fussed who we sign as long as they suit the way the manager wants to play. I want to see the best team rather than a team of names that are misfits and being asked to play how they can't. It isnt going to be easy to sign decent players now we arent in Europe. Failure in the league last year has cost us. Watching daggers game, it's much higher tempo and keeping the ball moving. Notable which players struggle with this and cant control a ball or distribute it quickly. It's going to take time to change this squad to what we need. Hopefully some academy players have enough to get game time."

"Linked with? I think you need to stop taking West Ham zone/hammers news/claret and Hugh as gospel - ffs they have linked us to over a hundred players already. At the end of the day he is a technical director not a youth scout. He has brought in gems like Alvarez, kudus and hopefully the young Brazilian but to earn his money and with a manager that will need to see instant results they will want proven players."

Every season when it comes to transfers the whole world seems to know who we are after. Do we have a leak at the club? My moneys on Sullivan Junior.

I agree with the below. Very uninspiring targets. Steiden is turning out to be a fraud. The fawning over him by some on here has been pathetic.

"stubbo, it's irrelevant what we're paying steidten while our midget control freak owner is still involving himself in recruitment. you can bet/guarantee some of your list are connected to his agent friends. until that stops, we'll continue with this fucked up recruitment process with the fantasy island freak pulling strings"

"Today sees us linked with the usual plus Tomori. What I don't get more than anything is just how uninspiring all these targets are. We're supposedly paying one of the world's best Sporting Directors with a nickname that suggests hidden gems, and we're being linked with a set of internationals playing for current top tier nations and Premier League graduates. Basically players 90%bof this board could have called out. What are we paying data analysts and scouts for exactly? Where are the players for 5-10m all the data suggests will be top players that we've never heard of? The guys we multiply our investment many times over? Kante, Todibo, Tomori, Duran, Toney, KWP, Wan Bissaka, Soule...etc etc etc. hardly inspired stuff...I could go on WhoScored or Football Manager and call out lost of those in about 10 mins as options by doing a search for 'last year of contract' or sorting by performance across the top 5 leagues last season and excluding Champions League Qualifiers. Jota Silva, Guilherme, Fabricio Bruno...these are the guys that they're being paid to find and get over the line. Kilman, Foderingham and the list above....none of that takes 'scouting and data'."

I read that there was never an interest and it was the Saudi league running the rumour as in the Saudi league turning down the premier league juggernaut…. Now that is a WHO conspiracy.

Thing I read said the Saudis werent too bothered about losing £86m off their wage bill Been a few players ... and will be more ... happy to rinse them for ludicrous money for a year and then come back to proper football C Ronaldo obviously an exception as on even more money and loves adding goals even against a bunch of camel tenders

Sydney I’m confused mate “what about his contract?” That’s why you pay a transfer fee? I see Liverpool are now in for Yilmaz and Arsenal want £15-£20m for Nelson.

"I reckon (hope) this Kante talks is bollocks or a distraction. Just doesnt make sense, yes, he is (was) a world class player, but at 33 and playing in the weird set up in Saudi would we really splurge 20 million? then his wages, he won't get anywhere near of what he is on in Saudi coming back to the PL, and what about his contract? assume he has one............surely that will cost him to get out of it, or do we have to pay that as well??? If this was in the same way we got Zabaleta then im all in, player on a free who has been there and done it, lower wages while he winds down his career can only be good thing to have in the squad, help youngsters and still put in a shift, or half a one before being subbed when needed. Please let this be BOLLOCKS"

"Steinberg makes a case against that does seem to be reasoned? Fabrizio Romano has since indicated (19 July) that the Hammers want to make him a “top target” even though the Saudi side are unwilling to sell but Steinburg claims Kanté’s fitness is no longer good enough for the Premier League. He wrote: “Kante was injured for most of his final 4 seasons in England. Not sure why anyone would think he’d be physically up to it after a year in Saudi. “And no, a few decent games in much slower international football isn’t proof. It would be a huge and unnecessary gamble from West Ham.”"

"Apparently the season ticket sales . Were still over ,90% . The clubs biggest issue is Sullivan. And until he sells up it's always going to be the clubs Achilles heel . He's proper small time . And players know it as well and our fanbase."
