"Don't think we are in that bad shape. He's a good manager that would keep us up even without anymore additions no doubt. Just need to get a few of these deals that have been mooted for a few weeks over the line. On a positive note we still have best part of 4 weeks to this before the season starts, you'd think he would want all his ducks in a row for Aug 10th Betway cup game though. Maybe we are waiting for players unwanted to be sold before we spend, and also we don't know how many of the youth players might feature in the squad plus Irving. He is certainly having a good look at them, this could 3 or 4 more to the squad."

"I'd be happy with Jota Silva, looks a decent player, can play left , right or through the middle and most importantly he wants to come to us. Been linked since before the window opened so I'm sure Sullivan put this on hold to avoid paying the wages yet again to the detriment of building the squad in pre-season."

"When do we ever have the squad together before the season starts? Sullivan doesn't operate to that model. As it stands, our squad is easily relegation fodder. Got a sinking feeling about this coming season."

Another winger? We need to sell Cornet first and sign a fucking striker and a RB. Still plenty of time but looking like he's not gonna have his squad together before the season starts now which was the plan apparently.

"Sport Witness West Ham expected to move as price comes down to bargain €10-12m West Ham United are now expected to make their move for Jota Silva, and if they’ve been playing a waiting game it looks like it’s working rather well for the Hammers. Multiple Premier League clubs have been linked with the Vitória de Guimarães player this summer and it’s the Hammers who have been the subject of most claims. Monday’s edition of Record reports that West Ham have already been in contact for Jota Silva, presumably asking the conditions to sign the attacker in the current market. For now, they haven’t gone further than that. Jota Silva scored 15 goals and contributed seven assists playing in a variety of attacking roles last season. The 24-year-old made his Portugal debut on the back of that but wasn’t included in Roberto Martinez’s Euro 2024 squad. His contract expires next June and that puts Vitória de Guimarães under some pressure. They had been trying to push interested clubs towards his €20m release clause, which felt like a push too far. Record now say the club will accept €10-12m given that they need to bring in some money. West Ham are therefore expected to move. Panathinaikos are also keen although it’s not thought they’ll offer enough and Jota Silva himself would prefer a bigger championship."

Been frustrating over the last 3 weeks with more links & nothing finalised Suspect Steidten will stay home … hopefully… and get some deals done before we return in 2 weeks & all the internationals (Areola Bowen Paqueta Coufal Soucek… Alvarez?) return Need to make up their mind on some of these links & get them over the line

Soule rumour has to be bullshit. Will be frustrating watching Kudus wasted out on the left like Moyes done with him towards the end of last season.

"Ludo - Yep, gone to Saints for 18 mil. Not defending anyone but maybe they think Potts and Orford can step up now making it OK to release Downs. Approaching August now and being out in the States won't exactly help."

Been away for a week with no internet access which was fantastic... would recommend it! Imagine my surprise that nothing has happened apart from selling Downes. Has that been finalised? I can't believe we have sold a very decent CDM who will suit our new style of play down to the ground without bringing in a replacement. All comes as no surprise unfortunately...

"I find it a little odd we've looked at what our strongest position is on the pitch, and decided to drop over £50m on strengthening it. I know people will say they can cover all across the pitch, but in laymen's terms we'll have 4 left footed right wingers if Soule does join."

"Novantesimo Juventus, hot week for Soulé? Juventus continues its summer work in Germany, inside the Adidas sports center. Cristiano Giuntoli is also present together with the Juventus team who are training under the watchful eye of Thiago Motta and, phone in hand, is carrying forward the many open negotiations especially regarding transfers. In fact, there remain many players on the verge of leaving, not only among those remaining in Turin such as Szczesny, De Sciglio, McKennie and Arthur. The Argentinian Matias Soulé is present in Germany with the rest of the team and, according to Tuttosport, he is training well and with the right intensity, but the future seems sealed. And he will be far from Juventus who, from his price tag, aims to obtain a figure of around 35 million euros also considering the bonuses."

Come On You Irons 12:28 Mon Jul 22 Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread I can't believe our only two signings have been an 18-year old Brazilian kid and £40 million for a 27-year old centre half from a team that finished below us with not a much better goals conceded column. Why do people continue to make this stupid argument abut players from teams finishing below us or relegated teams can't be worth it. Wonder if there was a gooner version of COYI bleating how Rice can't be any good as Westham were lower with a worse goal difference

Doesn't bode well for the new season, does it. Nor does it reflect well on the so called genius of a Technical Director in scarfy Steidten, I can see a long, hard season battling relegation ahead."

Am sure there was an agent a while back that said when he wants to drum up a move for a client he made up interest from a couple of clubs to get a story in the media ...Everton & West Ham Utd usually

Nagel Totally agree We are the agent/ players rep/ lazy journalists dream. Can feasibly be linked with anyone from top to say league 1. Have a fair bit of money History if spunking money away without due diligence/ on a whim / weirdly/ one of Sullivans punts So it's always believable... even for us

"I know that everyone loves to shit on the board (and not without reason) but maybe, just maybe, most leaks of this nature come from those who would actually benefit from it, ie the selling club or the player's agent. And then you have the fact that a lot of these rumours are simply made up bollocks and not leaks at all, just clickbait fiction from journalists or attempts to drum up interest by the selling club or agent. It's not worth getting het up about."
