"Sergi Roberto is still a possibility. He can play at RB or midfield. Oven ready, experienced, a class act, has history with Loppy. He has left Barcelona but as yet undecided about where to go next. Obviously he's not a long-term solution and at 32 would be another signing in the Füllkrug/Rodriguez mould. Mixed feelings about that. I can't help feeling there must be a young up-and-coming RB somewhere in the Championship, preferably English because we're running short of homegrown players. As for outgoings, I read yesterday that Atletico Madrid are interested in Aguerd - surprising that such a high profile club would want him, but hey, bite their hand off. Ings is an interesting one. Does he have any principles? There's a story going round that he doesn't want to take a pay cut despite the fact that he's clearly behind Füllkrug and Antonio and we haven't ruled out going for Duran or some other striker. Would he really be prepared to sit on his arse and collect his 120 bags a week rather than play football somewhere else. Time for a reality check, Danny."

"""Reports' suggesting Dumfries wants to go to Manu, with AWB fancying Milan. If that is true/pans out, then do we then resume interest in Mazroui (sp?)."

Luis Guilherme (RW | £19.4m from Palmeiras) Andy Irving (CM | end of loan at Austria Klagenfurt) Wes Foderingham (GK | free transfer from Sheff United) Max Kilman (CB | £40m from Wolves) Crysencio Summerville (LW | £24m from Leeds) Niklas Fullkrug (ST £27m from Dortmund) Guido Rodriguez (DM) Free Agent) If we add AWB to the group above I would be hard pressed to be critical of this window. Credit where its due. Add to that extension of contracts to Akpata and Earthy. With Potts and Scarles hoping to make an impact. Sorry to be so positive to all the naysayers.

I see some Italian newspaper is reporting we have bid £26 million for Tammy Abraham. We should be all over that move. He is only 26 and would provide a further option up top. It would also mean Antonio would be firmly a bench player which is what he should be at 34.

If AWB is entitled to contractual amounts including a 'loyalty' bonus for not putting a transfer request in then fair play and thats Man U's commitment to pay If he is asking for some sort of severance for the rest of his contractual period (ie the last year of his contract) then to me that is just greed and scuppering the deal To be honest this feels like its gone on for 2 months and we should be moving on to our next option As mentioned finding a decent right back around Europe shouldnt be THAT difficult Moving on Zouma and Soucek should create a space for a non homegrown player if thats what its going to be

"Manuel 11:05 Wed Aug 7 Possibly. Or it all goes quiet, he sits on his hands for a year and then leaves Man Utd next year on a free to Saudi where he earns enough money to buy a three bedroom house every single week."

"Lee Trundle 5:18 Tue Aug 6 Thanks for clearing that up. Apologies. That'll teach me. I had heard on radio that the issue was 'not contractual' and was a 'severance pay' that AWB had lodged and that Man Utd were not legally obligated to pay it. So it seems someone in the media either has the wrong end of the stick or has a pro-Man Utd agenda (or both). Having said that, I do also feel there is alot of substance in The Exile's opinion in that surely a mutli-millionaire footballer has, at some point, to put money aside and start to think about playing football. Why would you want to be at a club that don't want you when you are being guaranteed first team football at a top club that wants you? He will be earning very good money here, and so its not like he is taking a massive hit or won't be earning for ages. I get that its the principle, but he doesn't need the money. Also, just a thought occured to me, could he not ask Man Utd to let him go and they can resolve this through his solicitor who can negotiate while life goes on?"

"These type of scenarios usual end up with their logical conclusions. Does AVB want to leave Man Utd? Yes. Do Man Utd want to sell him? Yes. Do we want him? Yes. The only possible caveat is that Inter seriously come in for him and turn the players head. With the Maguire circus in Jan it was different as he never wanted to leave, that's the club and the pissing down of rain up there."

"This may not be down to AWB at all, more down to an ""obligation"" in the media to ensure ""Manchester United"" appears in newspapers and on screens every single day. Any snippet of news to do that is fair game. He has an agreed contract with his current employers and is perfectly entitled to expect that agreement to be fully honoured; I'm sure they also expect the same of him. If Man U didn't like the terms of the contract, or never, ever intended to honour their side of it, they simply shouldn't have signed it in the first place - after all, they're Man U...Man U! Too big for anybody to tell THEM what to do."

"AWB “latest” just looks like regurgitated stories to me with endless talk about the severence payment and the similarity to the failed Maguire transfer and now the Inter “hijack” resurfacing. Whole point is to get fans to read the articles and focusing on “fear” always gets attention. We dont know of alternatives to AWB, although Steidten will have them and may even be in contact already, we worry rightly about Coufal being our first choice right back again because he falls a little short on the pace and technical quality. Even if AWB would prefer Milan its, imo, no problem if he ends up coming to us. We’ve all taken jobs that werent our first choice ( well I have) but often found they worked out better. His severence payment is 20% of his contract and he ideally wanted to stay so understand he wants whats owed. Main issue or fear is starting the season with 5 tough games ( City, Chelsea, Villa etc) with a defence that features Coufal at right back and without another fast, strong, comnanding CB. Hopefully Steidten, Sullivan via Salthouse sort out AWB because he is a great defender. Its his attacking thats not so good. We have to hope Kilman and Stavros as CBs can meet the challenge of the first few games because it looks like the other CB wont be coming in for a few weeks? Or will Timbo pull another “rabbit from the hat?” Lets hope so"

"Sport Witness Nottingham Forest and West Ham make enquiries for same player – Work needed to convince him Monaco left-back Caio Henrique is a potential target for Nottingham Forest and West Ham United as both sides continue to strengthen this summer. That’s according to UOL, who report the Monaco full-back could be making the move to England this summer thanks to two suitors from the Premier League. UOL explain that the defender, formerly of Fluminense and Grêmio, have ‘attracted interest’ from Nottingham Forest and West Ham. He’s been the subject of enquiries from both sides in recent weeks. They’re yet to make any offers for him but are simply monitoring the 27-year-old. Both Nottingham Forest and West Ham face potential frustration if they do push forward, though, with Caio Henrique and his entourage having prioritised staying at Monaco for now. He wants to bounce back from the injury to his left knee that saw him miss part of last season and continue to develop with the Ligue 1 side rather than move to the Premier League it seems. Of course, such plans can always change quite quickly when Premier League clubs make a firm approach for a player, so it’s up to the two to decide if they want to."

"Personally I think the whole AWB thing is starting to reek a bit. Yes, that's partly because Man U are dicking everyone about. But you've got to ask questions about a guy who's prepared to risk ending up sitting on his arse drawing his fat salary for a year rather than playing regular football. Also I remember him being outstanding at Palace but he has clearly underperformed at Man U. Ok so it's a pretty dysfunctional club, but it must be partly down to him. Move on sharpish, I say."
